wayfarerstranger Posted April 4, 2011 Report Posted April 4, 2011 DOES ANYONE if the 1965 DODGE POLARA had 15" wheels from the factory and if there is anything special about them ?? will any Mopar wheel from that era work ... does anyone know of any nice factory hubcaps for this wagon ?? thanx CHANCE Quote
Young Ed Posted April 4, 2011 Report Posted April 4, 2011 Chance I'm pretty sure Dads 66 Fury wagon came new with 14s. I believe mopars all had 14s until 1969. His wagon came with the 4 original wheels which might be wider then the 14s found on a sedan but it has 15in cop wheels with bottle caps installed on it. Quote
wayfarerstranger Posted April 4, 2011 Author Report Posted April 4, 2011 i did some research and it said 65 was the first year for 15`s but all the hubcaps i`ve seen are all 14" so most of them probably had 14`s so will any 14" Mopar wheel look stock and do u know exactly what the different styles of hubcaps looked like ?? i`ve seen several different types just not sure what is correct it is a 65 polara 880 wagon .... thanx for your info ... greg g Posted April 4, 2011 Report Posted April 4, 2011 Dads Coronet sedan had 14's I think the tires were 8.25 X 14, I think the Polara being the top of the line Large car had 15's. Quote
JerseyHarold Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 I recall that '65 Polaras had 14" wheels standard. My '66 Fury has 14's from the factory. Quote
thrashingcows Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 My 68 Chrysler Town and Country wagon had factory 14"x6.5" rims on it. It was 4 wheel power drums as well. I believe the 15" was optional on most cars pre-1969, and might have been standard with the factory disc brakes. You can use a 15" rims from most any mopar, cars, truck and vans, from the mid 60's right on up to the mid to late 80's. I have a set of 15" x 6.5" on my wagon now that I just grabbed from the trunks of various cars in the wreckers. As long as it's a 5x4.5 bolt pattern your golden. Quote
JohnS48plm Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 My first car was a 1965 Coronet 440 wagon and it had 14s on it. Quote
wayfarerstranger Posted April 5, 2011 Author Report Posted April 5, 2011 SO from what i`m reading , just like i thought all along any MOPAR 14"x6.5 rim w/ a 5x4.5 bolt pattern from the 60`s up into the 80`s all look the same and interchange ....... 15" seem to have been an option during that period & wheel covers had several different styles .. thanx CHANCE Quote
dezeldoc Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 I lied, ours is a 64 Polara 383,727 6 pass wagon. Quote

Grab a set of 15" rims...decent 14" tires are getting harder to find. Do some searching on E-bay for dog dish caps, or wheel covers and find something you like. Here's my wagon with 15" rims and "Chrysler" dog dish caps. These caps only came on a newport in 67/68. Edited April 5, 2011 by thrashingcows Quote
