Charlie Olson Posted January 18, 2011 Report Posted January 18, 2011 (edited) Have any of you ever seen a Plymouth Suburban, with a wood trim interior? Me neither. I like it, a lot!!! On the Bay: http://tiny.cc/vkrkl Edited January 18, 2011 by Charlie Olson Quote
Charlie Olson Posted January 22, 2011 Author Report Posted January 22, 2011 Didn't sell. I wonder what type of offer they would accept. Quote
Frank Elder Posted January 22, 2011 Report Posted January 22, 2011 Pretty on the outside...shoddy woodwork, fit and finish leave a lot to be desired. Quote
Charlie Olson Posted January 23, 2011 Author Report Posted January 23, 2011 (edited) ATTENTION:::: I have sent the following letter of inquiry to the agent seller of the 1940 Ebay Plymouth Suburban:: Hello, are you saying you believe this "suburban" to be a factory original vehicle? Our P15/D24 Yahoo Online Group has voted this to be a total after market version of someone's idea of a retro fitted sedan wagon. The back seat is just another front seat and the two jump seats are mounted on the rear riser platform of the trunk. If you have other information proving this is an authentic Plymouth factory Suburban, we would like to see it. If you can't prove this car's "suburban" provenance; we respectfully ask you to stop falsely representing it to be a "suburban". If you want to call it a "suburban"' please also identify it as a Phantom Suburban. Our car company historian, Don C, is very touchy about these types of claims. Thank you, Charlie Olson, Secretary, The Wood Car Company Nice - but not factory. Edited January 23, 2011 by Charlie Olson Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted January 23, 2011 Report Posted January 23, 2011 it also appears to have an air conditioning compressor on the left front corner of the engine. Quote
Reg Evans Posted January 23, 2011 Report Posted January 23, 2011 (edited) Those rear jump seats can be obtained at most boat supply stores. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/WISE-Folding-Fishing-Boat-Seats-Boating-Seats-Seats-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem1c14fe1cd6QQitemZ120611282134QQptZBoatQ5fPartsQ5fAccessoriesQ5fGear Edited January 23, 2011 by Reg Evans Quote

Charlie Olson Posted January 23, 2011 Author Report Posted January 23, 2011 The key word here is "phantom", as in the suggestion to describe the "suburban" as a "phantom". Some people take things way too literal and serious. Charlie Olson, Ombudsman, The Wood Car Company Quote

Charlie Olson Posted January 23, 2011 Author Report Posted January 23, 2011 If we have to announce that something is going to be written/said "tongue in cheek", so as to prevent offending the overly sensitive, then we might as well just all take our little pink pills and stay in the twi-light zone. This is America and every one has every right to be offended. Now, stop huffing and puffing and go out and save the world. Cry Baby! Charlie Olson Posted January 30, 2011 Author Report Posted January 30, 2011 (edited) I read in the March 2011 HMN edition that this "Suburban" was built for the US Coast Guard; no more details than that. The asking price has been lowered to $24,500; from $28,500. Charlie Olson, research department manager, The Wood Car Company Edited January 30, 2011 by Charlie Olson Quote

Thank you, Charlie Olson, Secretary, The Wood Car Company http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freedom_of_speech I guess it is time for me to exersise my freedom of speech. I did not have a dog in this fight but it seems my name has been drawn into this conversation. I have sent the following e-mail to the seller of this car. I will post his response if he responds. I thought I would alert you that a gentleman by the name of Charlie Olson has posted on a public forum a few things about your listing. He claims to have sent you a question as you can see by following the link below. He claims that there is some kind of group consience supporting his comments. http://www430.pair.com/p15d24/mopar_forum/showthread.php?t=25440 First off there is no Yahoo online group and no vote was taken. There is no "Wood Car Company". That is an imaginary company that this guy made up as he bought a Plymouth car that someone has converted to a pretend woody. He makes mention of one Don C who he claims is "Our car company historian". I believe I am the Don C he makes mention of and I assure you I am in no way associated with his imaginary company and I do not appriciate the fact that I have been drawn into this as I have never made any comments about the car you have for sale. Feel free to respond to his posting on the forum. I have driven by your store several times. Next time I will stop in and have a look. Don Coatney Murfreesboro, Tennessee Quote
