Thanks Tim!

Frankie's right - This is the Nash - it has "GM-style" butterfly vent window.

Small crank to open it. The spring is mounted in a hard place, deep groove behind big escutcheon.

Did you ask at a parts store? I just saw the tool to remove those clips at the local Auto Value store a few days ago. Seems if they sell the tool, they may well have the clips...

that may prove a bit difficult for our boy Pekka..he be in Finland..

Those little clips are pretty common to Chevys......I had them on the

53 and 54 models owned back in college days in the 1960s. They may

be available at auto supplies. If not, do you know anyone with a Chevy

who might have a spare? Or any salvage yards in your area? I probably

have one of those lying around somewhere, but I looked in my small pieces

drawer and didn't find one. Think I have too much "valuable junk"....stuff

gets lost over time.

Tim, Shel, Bob,

Thank you for your help & hints.

I have now top three actions I try:

1) Ask local Chevy fellows if they'd have this to spare

2) My original idea; Make one out of 1mm diam steel wire and heat it to give it spring stiffness

3) Order some from Rest'Specl's to my friends' address in SC and wait until summer he comes Finland for vacation

My 94 dakota with manual windows has them too. So you might be able to find something at a parts place.

Here in the states you can get most sizes at any bigger auto parts store. I get them all the time for my jobs. They are used on thosands of cars still today including most imports.

I made one like that recently for a toyota pick up . I had a spring of a different shape and was able to re - bend it into the shape needed . Those little clips can really go flying when you remove them .
