ggdad1951 Posted September 22, 2010 Report Posted September 22, 2010 Anyone know where you can buy these bad boys? Roberts so far won't touch mine as my rear end seems to fall off their catalog and NAPA is a big fat zero. Quote

I've found that a lot of items are available from NAPA if you look up the interchange from a Chrysler number than if you try to look up your year and vehicle. Quote
ggdad1951 Posted September 22, 2010 Author Report Posted September 22, 2010 that has been the problem, no numbers to go off of. My parts book doesn't even show the rear hub assembly for a a B-3-D for reference. The NAPA guys tried to go off measurments and didn't get anywhere, I'm actually sending one of each out to Roberts to see if he can match them up. I was just hoping for a quicker turn time. Quote
JBNeal Posted September 22, 2010 Report Posted September 22, 2010 (edited) One-ton rear axles are almost identical to Power Wagon rear axles...I found M37 govt surplus seals & gaskets on eBay several years ago, and they were exact fit replacements. http://www.vintagepowerwagons.com/pdf/parts/11rearaxle.pdf Edited September 22, 2010 by JBNeal added hyperlink Quote
Merle Coggins Posted September 22, 2010 Report Posted September 22, 2010 I looked it up in my parts manual and then got on Napaonline and crossed the numbers. Here's what I found for the "D" trucks (all generations) Oil Seals - Item # 22-07-14 Inner seal P/N 915499 = Napa NOS 28116 Outer seal P/N 915496 = Napa NOS 20766 Gasket P/N 915565 = Napa FPG 4390 Wheel Bearings Iten # 22-07-1 & 2(in case you need them too) Inner Cone P/N 927017 = Napa BRG BR28682 Inner Cup P/N 927015 = Napa BRG BR28622 Outer Cone P/N 927018 = Napa BRG BR2984 Outer Cup P/N 927016 = Napa BRG BR2924 Good luck Merle Quote
ggdad1951 Posted September 22, 2010 Author Report Posted September 22, 2010 (edited) thanks Merle, I will return to NAPA after work armed with these numbers. I THINK we ran across the 28116 but it was .038 "thicker" than the old one, but I assume they might squeeze/crush down abit when compressed and installed? 20766 also seems to (visually) have a smaller seal area.... Just got off the phone with Vintage and they don't feel that their parts will work... Edited September 22, 2010 by ggdad1951 Quote

ggdad1951 Posted October 1, 2010 Author Report Posted October 1, 2010 (edited) Anyone know where you can buy these bad boys? Roberts so far won't touch mine as my rear end seems to fall off their catalog and NAPA is a big fat zero. Well low and behold Roberts does it again! What a class act! I sent in my seals and he had exactally what I needed. The problem was my truck is so "odd" (kinda like the truck owner) that parts don't always cross easily, and he was hesitant to sell me something that would not work. So for a GREAT price I'm getting exactally what I need from Roberts! SWEET! Edited October 1, 2010 by ggdad1951 Quote
