P15 Convertible on Auto Trader Classics, input please

Slightly customized with the wheels and it looks like the rear fenders are blended or welded on. From what you can see it looks well worth the price but I'd want to see a ton more pictures of the inside under the hood or better yet check it out in person. Seems to good to be true.

Hi Charlie,

It looks fairly complete, apart from rocker moldings, bumper guards and front fender Special Deluxe emblems... not a big issue.

It's also missing wiper arms and blades.

I personally don't like the wheels - especially the big'n'littles giving it that 'back end up' look.

Also, you can see that the rear fenders have been molded into the body.

How much bondo is in the car?

The panel fit, generally, looks very good.

And the interior, from what is visible in the pictures, looks to have been done well.

Would like to know more about the engine and transmission and I'd ask for pictures of work in progress, so you can see what's been done.

Having said all this, it's a very cheap P15 convertible and if you have the cash available, I think it looks like it could be a great purchase.

I bought my convertible, unseen, via the web.

I've never regretted it for a moment.

Good luck.

Robin.

PS now you've put this 'out there', you'd best act fast, to avoid being beaten to the deal.

Hmmm claims to be 23K miles, yet the rockers and rear feders have been worked. No engine pics. I'd be looking hard at it and taking a refrigerator magnet with me to test for filler. The be checking the floors and the bottom of the trunk.

got to read the ad with a grain of salt, when indicated low original miles one must keep in mind that even if the odo had turned over and now reading 23K+..it is still original miles as the odo is operating as designed..

seems lots of folks mirroring my PM to you to look for unercarriage, hood, trunk and interior shots...this car is not as represented and is of the custom class more than original..that in itself is known to the seller it seems thus the asking price is reflective of these changes..the sell will now hinge on the buyer and how much he wants the car and his intended use..if going for eventual collectibility of the car..the above mentioned body changes has greatly reduced the cars value. If going for a cuiser...and all the points mentioned turn out to have been accomplished properly and pictures of "on-going" repairs further document, it would be a head turner for sure..

and on another note...be sure to see the car with the top up for proper fit of the bows and not some knock of pathetic looking Carson top arrangement..these after market tops in my opinion are not of the proper "flow" for this period car..
