Plymouths at Portland.....just wondering....

I believe the show has now come and gone......

Who went besides Todd Fitch and Mark from St Louis?

Haven't seen any pictures or info on any winners.

Have I missed something?

Here is a link to Mark's son's picture host site. I got a call from Mark, last week from Boise, Id. Unfortunately I was at work, wife said they had a great time. Bill Ward posted a comment on the POC board.

Hopefully the folks will be checking in. Looks like the only trouble Mark encountered was a holed tire.

Thanks for the link Greg.

Good pics from Mark.

I think 3 of the rims on the car currently may be the ones he got

here in Joplin recently.....a fellow I know had been saving them for

several years and not found a car to use them on.

I sent him a sales brochure and a couple magazine ads for display,

as they give an extra point or two for having such things.

The car looked great and sounded good. Evidently ran good as it

looks.

I couldn't read the writing on the plaque he was holding in a shot at

the last. Apparently an award of some kind.

My photos can be seen at:

I started at the early cars on taking photos but was side tracked before I got to the later cars, so the photos peter out around 1940 (the cars were parked in order of age). I did get a couple of shots of Bill Ward's rig with his tear drop trailer though.

With regard to winners, I can say that the fellow who got 2nd in class 1 group 2 (1933-39) should have gotten first. His car, a 1937 P4 coupe, is much nicer than the fellow who got 1st in that class.

Very nice photos posted there.

With regards to the plaque: Everyone got a plaque, if you won an award the the plaque had that information. If not, it was for participation. All plaques had your name on them along with a picture of your car. Very nice touch.

This car, nice but not judged, is owned by a fellow in the SF Bay Area. He claims that people stopped tailgating him as much when put that "0 to 60 in 15 minutes" license plate bracket on.

Todd, did you and Mark get together??

Unfortunately, no.

On the other hand my memory for names and faces has always been poor, and I did meet a lot of people. So maybe. If a tree falls in the forest and you have no recollection of it, did it really fall? :)

Tod, nice photos of the Portland event.

This looks like Mark's P15 here......not certain, can't tell the exact

color. If not his, very similar in overall appearance at a glance.

Hey Tod,

How did those leather driveshaft boots hold up?

Still no miles on mine, and the rubber boot in the rear has moved from cracked to completely split open.

Will be going to buy those leather ones if they held up for you..

I haven't looked under the car to see. I'll try to remember to look tonight.

I believe the green car belongs do Harold and Denise from California. A very ice couple we met last year in MD. they drove their car ( I believe it belonged to Harolds father or uncle) from Cal to MD for the POC meet in Sept.

Mark called me today........said his car ran flawlessly on the trip.

But he had 3 flat tires. One from a nail, two others (he has now

determined) from overinflation. He said he, his wife, and son had a

very nice time. He can provide other details later.

I have the leather drive shaft boots on PLYWOOD, with about 700 miles of usage and they look like I just put them on last week.

Looks like the boots are still on tight with no problems. The trip was about 1600 miles so that should be enough to give a little indication of how they are holding up.

I am trying to remember where I got them. I think either Roberts or Mitchell's. But the Visa receipt says "obsolete mopar" which does not match with any of the names in my vendor list.

Edit: Found the paper receipt. "AMS Obsolete" www.mmpar.com Looks like the new name for Mitchell's Mopar. The receipt shows:

Bin: 7A6

Part #: 870311

Line: 16

Description: 7A6 Leather U-Joint Boot

Price: $39.50 ea (+shipping)

Hello everyone!

It looks like it was a Great Tour and Event! After viewing the photos I'm even more sorry that I wasn't able to drive my 48 Ply 2dr sedan and attend the event.

Thanks for the photos!

Well finally have the car clean and ready for tonights local car show. Here are the numbers

4986 miles driven, 43 stops for gas, gas mileage 10-18 mpg, burned 3 quarts of oil, three flat tires( one nail and two tube failures), found one pair of vise grip pliers while fixing a flat, 91 cars registerd for the show, met a lot of new people, Party in Parking lot continues to gain strength. Car ran flawlessly, started in all types of weather and elevations, though tended to run at 190 degrees on those long 400 mile days with air temp in the 90's

High lights, Craig and I left June 9 about 6:00 pm drove to Manhattan Ks, June 10 high winds and heat across kansas to colorado springs. June 11 Pikes Peak, totally worth the trip. June 12 met with the Berkheimers (62 & 63) and Reddish's (74 Satellite) June 11 Laramie Wy, that night Lee Lape (65), Denny Cutchall (72 Fury) and John Mcmormick (06 Truck) Now we had a convoy off to the Tetons and Yellowstone. Bosie Idaho, Spanky Cox (64 Wagon) and Bill Ward (50 Club Coupe) Now We had a real convey heading into Portland. Its was the neatest thing I have done in a long time, great new friends, stories and saw many beautiful sights.

That link makes no sense to me.

Wow. Over twice the mileage I had for that meet. My records are at home so I can't tell you the number of stops for gas but I do recall 15.2 MPG for the whole trip. Don't think I burned any oil but I did leak 3 quarts. :)

No one in our group had any significant car issues coming or going. These old Plymouths are pretty reliable.

We had 11 vehicles (10 Plymouths and a Dodge truck) in our caravan for the last two days up. Quite a sight and we did have lots of people smile and wave.

Looking forward to seeing your photos.

Really enjoyed your pictures and videos of the trip Mark. Congratulations on a successful trip. Glad you got there and back with only a few small issues.

Hope to catch up with you this month somewhere in the St. Louis area.

Here’s a picture taken at the banquet of Mark and I as well as John McCormick (34 Plymouth and some early 30 Dodges), another Prairie Region member who made the trip to Portland. I wish I would have hooked up with Todd.

A couple of corrections, my Fury is a 64, and Dennis Cutshall's Fury III convertible is a 69. Also joining us in Laramie was Rich and Karen Gregerson, also Prairie Region members, in their motor home.

For those whoe were there, was there any mention of the location of any 2011 event/s?

No mention of it on any of the POC based sites. I know its early but there usually seems to be info on the upcoming events at the national.

The club site refers to the events being on the discussion list the discussion list only has 2010 events. So anybody know who's hosting and where???
