JerseyHarold Posted April 4, 2010 Report Posted April 4, 2010 Our newspaper includes 'USA Weekend' as its Sunday magazine supplement. In today's issue, there was a HF ad with a coupon for a free 9-LED mini-flashlight. Useful and free...what more could you ask for? Quote
oldmopar Posted April 4, 2010 Report Posted April 4, 2010 I think I still have one of the free 5 cell flashlights radio shack use to give away in the 70's Quote
RobertKB Posted April 4, 2010 Report Posted April 4, 2010 Nothing from a company is free. It is all tied into their overall price for goods as is all marketing, advertising, shoplifting, philanthropy, etc. Companies by their very nature seek only to make money and the bottom line is god. My guess is also that lots of people that come into the store for the freebie end up buying other products. So ends the lesson. Quote
TodFitch Posted April 4, 2010 Report Posted April 4, 2010 Sometimes you can get a free thing. For example, a couple of weeks ago I was on ski patrol duty. After removing a jump that some snowboarder had made in an inappropriate location I noticed a off brand (probably Harbor Freight) LED flashlight in the snow just a little way down hill of the jump. No one claimed it at our lost and found by the end of the weekend so its mine now. I guess you could say it wasn't free as I only noticed it because I was doing physical labor in the area. But no money changed hands. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted April 4, 2010 Report Posted April 4, 2010 you are right Shel..I have a number of these myself..Harbor Freight specials...I try to keep on hanging on each shifter lever in my daily drivers...handy as can be.... Quote
Don Coatney Posted April 4, 2010 Report Posted April 4, 2010 When I was in Seattle one of the local field engineers bought one of the HF led flashlights for me. It worked well until I tried to use it. I had to hammer it a couple of times to make it work. Then it finally quit. So another local field engineer in Houston bought another one for me. I still have and use it. However I still must hammer it to make it work. Like Tim I still have the original hammer I use to make it work. But the hammer head has been replaced twice and the hammer handle has been replaced three times due to normal wear and tear making the Harbor Freight flashlight work. Other than that the hammer is still original. Quote

Those things threw a powerful beam. And you could collect more D-cells to keep them going with your 'Free Battery of the Month' card! Quote
