old rat 49 Posted March 4, 2010 Report Posted March 4, 2010 I just realized my '48 p15 has two 15 and two 16 inch rims. Which size is correct ? Quote
Young Ed Posted March 4, 2010 Report Posted March 4, 2010 By that time in P15 production they were switched to 15s. Quote
michael.warshaw Posted March 4, 2010 Report Posted March 4, 2010 I believe 15" wheels were from 46 and 48 and the 16" were on the 1947 models, that is what i was lead to believe. Quote
Young Ed Posted March 4, 2010 Report Posted March 4, 2010 No all 46s and most of the 47s had 16s. Late in the 47 production run they switched to 15s and had 15s through the rest of the p15 run. Quote
greg g Posted March 4, 2010 Report Posted March 4, 2010 (edited) Your's Too???? So you're the one with my other two 16 inch rims....... Edited March 5, 2010 by greg g Quote
Young Ed Posted March 4, 2010 Report Posted March 4, 2010 Think people were looking for a slight rake or tail dragger look? Quote
power_hungry Posted March 5, 2010 Report Posted March 5, 2010 My car had 15" on the right side... 16" on the left. What was up with that?!? Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted March 5, 2010 Report Posted March 5, 2010 The mountain goat look............. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted March 5, 2010 Report Posted March 5, 2010 My 47 had 16" wheels when I got it.......were painted same color as the car......far as I know they were original. However, I now use some 15's. Quote
old rat 49 Posted March 5, 2010 Author Report Posted March 5, 2010 Going to go with the 15's. What size radial would give me the correct tire height and would a truck style tire look closer to original. Keep in mind this is a daily driver. A slightly larger footprint would be a plus. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted March 5, 2010 Report Posted March 5, 2010 I prefer 2.15 x 15......pretty close to original size. I think the car will take 2.25s without any real problems.....just need to make sure they don't rub on the tie rod ends. That partly depends on what depth wheels you use. Just my 2 cents. Quote
41/53dodges Posted March 5, 2010 Report Posted March 5, 2010 gotta keep em' skinny for good mileage! Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted March 6, 2010 Report Posted March 6, 2010 (edited) I was presuming that someone might know it meant 2.15-75R-15 or 2.25-75R-15.....if using radials. Or you could use bias ply of 6.70x15, or 7.10x15. Link to Coker Tire site: http://www.cokertire.com/ Edited March 6, 2010 by BobT-47P15 Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted March 6, 2010 Report Posted March 6, 2010 215 and 225 are expressed in millimeters and thus the decimal systems is no longer applicable..and while that may seem quite a distance..remember that the tread roll up and around the tire on both side to encompass this measurement Quote
Robert Horne Posted March 6, 2010 Report Posted March 6, 2010 On one of my Coupes I have 2.15 15 inch on the rear, and 13 inch on the front. I tried 12 inch wheels on the front, but will not fit. Quote
aero3113 Posted March 6, 2010 Report Posted March 6, 2010 I have 700X15 Radials on my 50 Plymouth Quote
