Just now on tv I saw the Canadian womens hockey team take the gold medal. Then they showed the most beautiful and impressive thing. The team and the entire audience singing O Canada. I just think it was wonderful and beautiful.

Well that means we only took silver. I watched in person the last game before the olympics between the US and Canada teams. Sadly we lost that one too.

And our women took the bronze, very impressive indeed considering the fact that Finns are so small population, just some 5.3 million total. And tonight our men will kick USAs butt bigtime, sorry 'bout that!

The IOC is saying that because Canada and USA are so dominant in Womens Hockey that it may be dropped from the Olympics. I thought it was a pretty good series, the stands were full and everyone had a good time.

For NHL hockey when a US team is playing we even sing along with that anthem a bit...it's a difficult song to sing though. Kate Smith was VERY popular here during the war...Canadians loved her.

Well, here's the thing. I didn't see any of the games because, well, I just don't care that much. It's just that "O Canada" is such a great national anthem, and to see so many people singing together and in the best of spirits of camraderie, it was just so beautiful and I found it quite moving. Being the home team also helped. Some good kids did a good thing in front of the world and their fans joined them in celebrating.

it is the IOC's postion not to condone underage drinking as it appears member was not of legal drinking age and partaking of the celebration..rules are rules..and the airing of this infraction worldwide..not a good image to project.

Very true, not a good image for sure. Was all over yahoo news and now in today's paper.

To be honest I don't think they were trying to rub in anyone's nose. And I would think many teams would have done the same. The one thing they did wrong was do it in a public location, or at least where the press could find out.

I hope it goes away, but nowadays it seems the world wants to exploit any mishaps of this nature.

Now if the wife walks in and finds you watching the hockey game, drinking a beer, and wearing your helmet, won't she find that a bit unusual?

Heck, since it's kind of a forum hockey game, I could be tempted to watch it myself.

Joe sir, she knows me already and wouldn't be surprised at all...;)

What comes to that champagne episode, let the girls enjoy the sweetness of victory. No-one got drunk. Heck they drink vine here at 14 yo in church when being baptised, hypocritisism makes me angry...

Now the IOC is saying they might discipline the Canadian girls for drinking champagne on the ice. Someone could use a little champagne themselves.

I knew there was a reason for me watching those games, under age drinking:rolleyes:umm I'm there. There is to much media coverage going on. In my day we would have taken those cats out back and gave them something to talk about. Leave the chicks alone. A little sparkly never hurt nobody lighten up!;)
