I have always wondered what type of packages folks would keep unrestrained at head height in a vehicle. I know my brother used to try use it to take naps. So how much force would a 40 pound kid exert on the back of the heads of front seat passengers if a car came to a sudden unplaned stop from 45 or 50 mph?????? I know the only thing I store on mine is my straw hat, a valise full of car show paperwork and, oh yea and a silly looking stuffed duck.

Mythbusters did a test of things flying off the package shelf and hitting the driver. They were really testing the myth about a box of tissues becoming a deadly projectile in an accident (they weren't), but they got some other good tests in.
