My cousin just returned from this year's Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale and he saw a 1950 Pilot House there.

Click on this link below and scroll down to lot #1209. Click on the number and you will get the results of the auction for this truck.

I'm amazed, although at auctions like this most vehicles sell for prices that are very inflated. This would even be high for a Chevy or Ford truck of the same vintage.

I thought B-series trucks in great condition usually get about 10k tops?

I think the value our trucks is very under-rated. I've got somewhere between 12-14 into it along with a lot of time crawling around in dog hair (and worse) at the various junkyards, resto-yards, and the paint shop, along with a bunch of sacrificed Saturdays and Sundays, not to mention all the time spent treasure hunting on the web like we all do. I think it's just a matter of time.

Meanwhile Enjoy,

Hank

If you look at the chevy just above or below it in the list the price will confirm that buyers still put more value in the chevy, and its splash lubricated babbit bearinged underpowered engine.

It must have been the (not correct) chrome bumpers, fan tail exhaust tip, red wheels with wide whites, car hub caps, and pin striping that make it worth so much. It is a nice looking truck, but I have a hard time believing it's worth that much. But like "they" say... it's worth as much as someone's willing to pay. ;)

I wouldn't pay that much for it either. As a builder, ican tell you that most of those vehicles can't be built for the prices paid for them when it's all hired. For those who have neither the time or skills to do it themselves but have the desire to own, it's very affordable. The bad part is the tendency for people to think that piece of iron out in the pasture is worth a small fortune without regard for condition or cost to make it look pristine.
