radioguy7 Posted October 2, 2009 Report Posted October 2, 2009 I've decided to trade my 47 P-15 to a guy who has a very sweet 68 Dodge Monaco. It will make a better daily driver and have some creature comforts such as A/C, power windows, etc... I've also been spending lots of time on the trifive forum since I have been concentrating on the restoration of my 57 Belair. Would of been cool to see the plymouth back on the road but I think this is a good trade at this time. Wish all of you luck with your projects. Quote
Young Ed Posted October 2, 2009 Report Posted October 2, 2009 Good luck. Feel free to drop in for the occasional OT update of the 57 or the monaco Quote
greg g Posted October 2, 2009 Report Posted October 2, 2009 Did you tell the new owner about this resource? Good luck ad have fun. Quote
radioguy7 Posted October 2, 2009 Author Report Posted October 2, 2009 Did you tell the new owner about this resource?Good luck ad have fun. I did mention it, but I will write it down for him too. He is from NH and his name is Tom. I'm sure you will see him on here. He's getting a lot of new parts with the car so it shouldn't be long before it's up and on the road. The Monaco I'm getting was completly gone thru and he did a pretty decent job for his first restoration. Thanks again for the well wishes guys and I'll try to drop by a bit Quote
Joe Flanagan Posted October 2, 2009 Report Posted October 2, 2009 Sorry to see you go, radioguy. As Ed said, keep us up to date with your new project. I'd like to see pictures, myself. Quote
JohnS48plm Posted October 3, 2009 Report Posted October 3, 2009 Why do you have to go? I sold my P-15 and have a 65 Barracuda and I still read the forum and try to help out with answers to questions when I can. So if you leave at least check in once in a while and let us know how you're doing. Good luck on your new project. JohnS Quote

Oldguy48 Posted October 4, 2009 Report Posted October 4, 2009 Please check back with the forum from time to time. I'm sure there is still a lot of knowledge about the P15s that you can share with us. We'll leave the light on for ya' Quote
radioguy7 Posted October 5, 2009 Author Report Posted October 5, 2009 Well, the deal went down on the trade for the Monaco yesterday. The guy drove from NH to my house in Ct with the Monaco on a flat bed. The car is really sweet and just needs a minimum of tlc to be excellent. It was sad seeing the Plymouth leave on the flat bed, would of loved to have finished that project. But since I stuck with mopar its all good. OT question, anyone have any experience with C body Dodge cars?? The steering on the car seems awful floaty going down the road. Is this normal for these cars? With the engine off I am getting about an 1/8th of a turn of the wheel back and forth before I feel any resistance. The tie rods feel tight on the car but they are original. I'm wondering if you can adjust play out of the steering box like you could on GM steering box's. I have a shop manual coming this week so hopefully I'll learn more. Quote
Young Ed Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 Looks like a sharp car. The mopars are quite floaty. In fact a lot of guys like to swap to the cop car steering box to get rid of that. However you should still make sure the floaty feeling is just that and not something worse Quote

Hmm cop car steering box's? have to look into that one. If all checks out I was thinking of maybe just adding an after market steering stabilizer. Quote
Young Ed Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 You can also have your cars box sent out to have it changed over. When I was first driving Dad let me use his 73 Coronet and you couldn't hardly keep it straight the power steering was so powerful. Quote
Robin (UK) Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 Hah! See... you say you're leaving the Forum because the P15s gone, then you immediately come up with a question about the Monaco. There's no getting away from this place.... You're in for life! Quote

Hold off Doc, did some searchin today at lunch and found this site. The specialize in this stuff for C body cars. I guess its the most major complaint of C body owners, that floaty feeling. Don't know what the designers were thinking, it drives me nuts!! Thanks for the thought tho doc http://www.firmfeel.com/c.htm Quote

dezeldoc Posted October 6, 2009 Report Posted October 6, 2009 WOW pretty good, same price no matter witch box you want! Quote
Rollie Posted October 6, 2009 Report Posted October 6, 2009 Nice looking '68 Monaco! I learned how to drive (and drive hard) in my '68 Barracuda. Slop, zero feel, and drum brakes seemed normal back then. Firm feel is the place to go, also maybe a box out of later 70's C-body would be of the firmer feel variety and interchangeable? That's the way it is on A-bodies. Quote
Rollie Posted October 6, 2009 Report Posted October 6, 2009 Now I'm reminiscing about the only C-body I owned, a '72 Chrysler New Yorker dealer demo car. Only option it didn't have was the heated seats. Car rode like a dream and ran good too, 7.5 MPG around town was fun. Quote
radioguy7 Posted October 6, 2009 Author Report Posted October 6, 2009 Yeah, I figure you can't beat their prices and these guys are super freindly as well. $175 core charge for the box, I might go with their inner and outter tie rods as well, should handle really well after. Heading down to the DMV at lunch to get a temp reg, then hopefully get it registerd Thursday after work. Can't wait to get motoring that 383! Quote
