BobT-47P15 Posted September 7, 2009 Report Posted September 7, 2009 For those readers who have wondered how a cowl-side mounted radio antenna would look........here's a fine example. There have been previous discussions about the different styles of antennas. Quote
55 Fargo Posted September 7, 2009 Report Posted September 7, 2009 Arthur, shes a nice straight car, looks good, enjoy this baby, get her out drivin..... Quote
greg g Posted September 7, 2009 Report Posted September 7, 2009 Have you decided agains selling? I thought you mentioned you were considering having to sell it. Looks good glad you got it running. Quote
Rodney Bullock Posted September 7, 2009 Report Posted September 7, 2009 Oh Authur, I see you put her back together rather than sell her.... good for you. What a sleeper it is, dual carbs on a four dr. I like it. The hard part is over. Let's see how fast you can make that thing go:D nice job! Quote
knuckleharley Posted September 7, 2009 Report Posted September 7, 2009 Hey! You also have a Falcon Futura! Very pretty cars, and for some odd reason one of the very few cars I have ever wanted to restore. They are a lot like Valiants, but with style. They get really good gas mileage, are so reliable it is unbelievable, and so easy to work on that anybody can keep one fixed. Quote
knuckleharley Posted September 7, 2009 Report Posted September 7, 2009 It's all ready for bodywork now. The fires out here are messing with the sun. THAT car is "ready for bodywork" now?????? What bodywork does it need, bird crap washed off of it? The Other Arthur Quote
Young Ed Posted September 7, 2009 Report Posted September 7, 2009 If you go after a falcon don't get a 4spd! Auto or 3 on the tree. Quote
knuckleharley Posted September 7, 2009 Report Posted September 7, 2009 If you go after a falcon don't get a 4spd! Auto or 3 on the tree. While the 260 and 289 are world class engines,I have a thing for inline 6's. I'd want one with the 170 or 200 6 and auto. I was talking with a guy in Florida about one last week with the inline 6 and bucket seats, but it was pretty rusty and he wanted way too much money for it. I can see a V-8 Sprint bringing the big bucks, but not a straight 6 Futura with auto. Quote
Young Ed Posted September 7, 2009 Report Posted September 7, 2009 They had 4spds behind 6s too. Thats what Dad had. You had to be ubber careful with the shift linkage or it would fall apart or get locked in 2 gears. And his already had an upgrade from the Ford shifter to a hurst which was supposed to fix the issues. It was a great looking car but for driving I'll take its replacement anyday. Quote
eric wissing Posted September 7, 2009 Report Posted September 7, 2009 I like the arrow on the Falcon. I guess it tells which way it generally going. We had a white 1960 for all seven of us to travel in. We were so packed in that we couldn't really effectively fight. Eric Quote

Young Ed Posted September 7, 2009 Report Posted September 7, 2009 There are a LOT of houses in Minneapolis with that #. And the Falcon is long sold to a couple in Milaca. Good ridance Quote
realgonekatt Posted September 7, 2009 Report Posted September 7, 2009 Most reliable car I ever had. Two years daily driver with no issues, But that Merc-o-matic 2speed was terrible! That plymouth looks great by the way. Whattya mean body work? Quote
dezeldoc Posted September 7, 2009 Report Posted September 7, 2009 Nice 63 rag top Ed! nobody in their right mind would take a ford over a mopar! Quote
Arthur1947 Posted September 8, 2009 Author Report Posted September 8, 2009 That's a nice Mercury. My wife had one, drove it to Florida from California. Even cars go to Florida to die. Best. ARTHUR Quote
