Bill Ford Posted June 27, 2009 Report Posted June 27, 2009 Where does the Jack and lug wrench go in the trunk? Did they come in a bag? Could not find how I could wedge them in the tire well? Does anyone have a picture? Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted June 27, 2009 Report Posted June 27, 2009 Actully, I'm not sure they designated a specific place for the jack and lug wrench in the P15. Have seen a couple cars for sale where they had the jack in a cardboard box of appropriate length.....said this was how it came. So, I think you need to invent your own place for them.....somewere around the spare tire. I wedge mine in there somehow.....even wrap it in an old towel to prevent rattling. Quote
greg g Posted June 28, 2009 Report Posted June 28, 2009 If I had one I would slide it in behind the spare tire. I wouldn't use one if I had it. I keep a flor hydraulic jack in mine with a star wrench and a Mopar approved wheel chock. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted June 29, 2009 Report Posted June 29, 2009 Greg......I also have a small floor hydraulic jack. But, it does not go high enough to get my rear wheels off the ground..... My springs are surely kinda weak, and the wheel/tire drops down quite a ways when raised. I end up using a combination of the floor jack with a couple pieces of 2 x 4 on top, plus the bumper jack to finish it up. Quote
Young Ed Posted June 29, 2009 Report Posted June 29, 2009 The 49-52 cars have a system for holding it. There is a cradle for it and a spring mount and the jack is raised enough to put tension on the spring holding it all in place. The p15s dont seem to have a device like this Quote
maurice wade Posted June 29, 2009 Report Posted June 29, 2009 My jack is still in the the box it came in. The box lay's in the trunk cross ways behind the rear seat. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted June 29, 2009 Report Posted June 29, 2009 My jack is still in the the box it came in. The box lay's in the trunk cross ways behind the rear seat. original "jack in the box" first thing that popped in my mind when I read your post... however that is fantastic to have the original box after all these years..I bet if you could duplicate that you could find a market large enough to make it worthwhile. BobT-47P15 Posted June 29, 2009 Report Posted June 29, 2009 Maurice - do you have a plant that makes boxes in your area?? You might ask them what would it take to get some copies of that box made. The problem might be the quantity they would need to produce. And/or cost to set it up. Would seem like a good idea to reproduce, though. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted June 29, 2009 Report Posted June 29, 2009 Well, here's a thought for those creative folks out there. There is probably a box from some other product that would just happen to be about the right size and shape for the jack. The creative part would be to create a sign for the outside of the box saying something like "Mopar Parts" or Plymouth Jack, Model P15.......or probably anything along that line you want to say. The general public would probably not know it wasn't original. Maurice......could you take a couple pictures of the box and post them?? What are the dimensions of the box? Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted June 29, 2009 Report Posted June 29, 2009 As you may or may not know, there was a tool kit available for the P15s (and probably others). Shown in the parts manual. It was made from a cloth material.......possibly a canvas type.....and could be duplicated fairly easily. In addition, they showed these items separately. The entire page..... Quote
Niel Hoback Posted June 30, 2009 Report Posted June 30, 2009 Maurice, how about posting the dimensions of your jack box so we can try making our own? Thanks in advance. Quote
