Thomba48 Posted June 4, 2009 Report Posted June 4, 2009 (edited) I have already managed to damage my emergency brake once - buy simply forgetting that it was activated. Hence I am looking for a "warning device". Found this nice piece on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/34-40-50-FORD-CHEVY-MOPAR-NOS-PARK-BRAKE-WARNING-LIGHT_W0QQitemZ290321352562QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMotors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories?hash=item4398804772&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245&_trkparms=65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C72%3A1171%7C240%3A1318 It is being indicated that there is a switch missing in order to activate the warning light. Question: What switch would that be and how would it be installed in my P15? thanks Edited June 5, 2009 by Thomba48 Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted June 4, 2009 Report Posted June 4, 2009 just about any door jamb switch can be mounted on a bracket mounted in the vicinity to energize a light circuit as soon as it is moved just the slightest..for an added treat you you can add a buzzer or chime... Quote
claybill Posted June 5, 2009 Report Posted June 5, 2009 well....please ..no more words like that. not a bar room here. bill Quote

old woolie Posted June 5, 2009 Report Posted June 5, 2009 Really no need for that kind of language and if you are stupid enough to drive away with the emergency brake on and not know it, well, you can't be very aware of your car and it's performance. Quote
Captain Neon Posted June 5, 2009 Report Posted June 5, 2009 I'm willing to give you a pass since English is probably not your first language. However, saying that you damaged or even wrecked your emergency brake is less offensive than your choice of words. This is not the H.A.M.B. Quote
old woolie Posted June 5, 2009 Report Posted June 5, 2009 English may not be his first language but he must be able to read well enough to know those words are not used here. Quote
maurice wade Posted June 5, 2009 Report Posted June 5, 2009 PLEASE, You can talk anyway you want to if you are in your house, in your car (without the emergency brake) or even when you are by yourself. I have worked in the oilfield for 36 years, and have had to listen to that kind of language for all that time. I don't want, or care to see it, or listen to it now that I am retired. You may not realize it but most people who talk like you do don't, know that their are younger adults, and children who use this web site. Quote
Thomba48 Posted June 5, 2009 Author Report Posted June 5, 2009 Guys I am awfully sorry if I have offended anyone on this forum. Wasn't ment to happen - still find the response load slightly over the the top. But then . . .. The recommended editing has taken place. Quote

Best thing to do is notify GTK if something slips by the filters. I did so when this was first posted. Quote

47heaven Posted June 7, 2009 Report Posted June 7, 2009 I had "messed" my E-brake up once before by forgetting to release it and driving off a few times. Hence, the worn e-brake shoe I now have. After that first time, I decided to search for a light to warn me, but wanted to find something close to the period of my car. I found this light on Ebay, and it was a Mopar part. It's big in diameter and it's bright. I haven't had a problem driving off with the e-brake engauged since then. Quote
55 Fargo Posted June 7, 2009 Report Posted June 7, 2009 On my 47 Chrysler, I have it wired to the signal flasher, then to the courtesy light under the dash driver's side. When the e-brake is on, the light flashes, this is an OEM 46 to 48 Chrysler feature.....Fred Quote
WatchingWolf Posted June 7, 2009 Report Posted June 7, 2009 my 50 Wayfarer has that big red puppy mounted right in the dash to the left of the steering wheel. I'll have to crawl under the dash and check how it is installed. Quote
47heaven Posted June 7, 2009 Report Posted June 7, 2009 I think it's supposed to go into the dash, but I'd really hate to drill a big hole into it. Quote
