Frank Elder Posted May 2, 2009 Report Posted May 2, 2009 Anyone need a 1971 challenger station wagon, here's your chance! I'm more interested in the ivory vert behind it:D http://www.autoblog.com/photos/challenger-wagon/649254 Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted May 2, 2009 Report Posted May 2, 2009 does the RT stand for rocket technology as that appears to be a Vista Cruiser top.. Quote
Frank Elder Posted May 2, 2009 Author Report Posted May 2, 2009 Vista cruiser top is correct, now Tim I know, you know, what I want to know, you know? Any ID on the vert? Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted May 2, 2009 Report Posted May 2, 2009 41 Dodge maybe...cannot see enough of the lens at top and the bumper corner...but the reflector below the lens appears to be round as the Dodge and not oval as the Plymouth Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted May 2, 2009 Report Posted May 2, 2009 I'd say '49 Dodge or maybe DeSoto by the square edged bumper. Quote
Fireball Posted May 2, 2009 Report Posted May 2, 2009 The one and only acceptable wheels for a true Mopar E-bodylover when the time for the last ride comes Quote
Don Coatney Posted May 2, 2009 Report Posted May 2, 2009 I'd say '49 Dodge or maybe DeSoto by the square edged bumper. I also think 49 something just by the fenders and fender mounted tail lights. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted May 2, 2009 Report Posted May 2, 2009 I think too much of the top lens showing for a 49 Plymouth..these have a top cap that locks the lens in place and extend to the end of the lens... Quote
PatS.... Posted May 3, 2009 Report Posted May 3, 2009 The car behind is a 1949 Chrysler. The easiest way to tell is the wraparound rear bumper which goes from wheelwell to wheelwell, and the taillights are unique to the 49 Chrysler. They only made the second series fron Jan to June, so very few convertibles of that body style are around. There's a good picture of the rear in the gallery of this ad on Hemmings http://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/dealer/chrysler/windsor/668959.html Quote
dndrodshop Posted May 3, 2009 Report Posted May 3, 2009 Two too many decimal points for the way the wagon turned out. Quote
Don Jordan Posted May 3, 2009 Report Posted May 3, 2009 It might be a cool wagon but I'd say with all that smoke the guy has some serious ring problems. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted May 3, 2009 Report Posted May 3, 2009 ah...but who can tell me what is wrong with the air cleaner....? Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted May 3, 2009 Report Posted May 3, 2009 For one thing, the writing is upside down. I expect it says "Golden Commando" which is for some other variety of Mopar engine, I think. Did they have that name engine in these cars? signed: not an expert Quote
Frank Elder Posted May 3, 2009 Author Report Posted May 3, 2009 Golden commando is chrysler, magnum is dodge....and orange dual snorkel? Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted May 3, 2009 Report Posted May 3, 2009 Hey, Frankie, it's a "cool" item, what with two snorkels and all.......... Quote
Frank Elder Posted May 3, 2009 Author Report Posted May 3, 2009 I have had the chrysler air cleaner that said 440 TNT, was that early 60's plymouth? Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted May 4, 2009 Report Posted May 4, 2009 I don't know, but maybe someone else will. Have not had any Mopars from that era. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted May 4, 2009 Report Posted May 4, 2009 http://www.nicksgarage.com/aircleaner.htm short history of mopar air cleaner tins... Quote
