aero3113 Posted January 22, 2009 Report Posted January 22, 2009 With the new springs up front it went from 11 inches to 13 1/4 from the bottom of the front bumper, they added a leaf to the rear and re-tempered it and it went from 12 inches to 17 1/2 from the bottom of the rear bumper. Here are before and after pics with the new tires on Before After Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted January 22, 2009 Report Posted January 22, 2009 that car now has a nice looking rake on it..ought to ride and handle a lot better now also...got a similar color on the 54...like the lighter blues.. Quote
aero3113 Posted January 22, 2009 Author Report Posted January 22, 2009 Thanks,The ride wasn't too bad from the beginning but it did improve it alot. Quote
blueskies Posted January 22, 2009 Report Posted January 22, 2009 Nice looking '50... the wide whites make it look so much better. I'm going to have to figure out how to pencil in a set of www radials for mine... Pete Quote
claybill Posted January 22, 2009 Report Posted January 22, 2009 it looks the same to me. the tires make it! bill so your intention was to make it ride a lot higher? or lower? Quote
claybill Posted January 22, 2009 Report Posted January 22, 2009 oooops! i read your previous post. now i get it. blll Quote
dezeldoc Posted January 22, 2009 Report Posted January 22, 2009 What is all that funny white stuff on the ground? Looks good, like the tires a lot. Quote
greg g Posted January 22, 2009 Report Posted January 22, 2009 Well the lowered look was noce, but I like the new look also. Nice looking car. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted January 22, 2009 Report Posted January 22, 2009 background props...aids in making the car color more pronounced than normal... Quote
Don Coatney Posted January 22, 2009 Report Posted January 22, 2009 I like the new stance but I like the skinny whites better than the wide whites. Quote
Norm's Coupe Posted January 22, 2009 Report Posted January 22, 2009 Looks nice. The tires probably raised it a small amount too. Radials have more rubber contacting the ground than bias tires. Actually by just looking at the pictures, I like the way the car looks either way. By the way, switching from radials to bias is going to change the way the car handles on the road too. Will be easier steering with the bias tires on there, especially when parallel parking. Quote
captden29 Posted January 22, 2009 Report Posted January 22, 2009 my first car was a hand me down and it was a 1950 dodge meadowbrook with the 19.95 earl schieb paint job. i still miss that car, but it did not look as good as yours. i like what you did to it. dennis Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted January 22, 2009 Report Posted January 22, 2009 Looks good. Gives it that "period" or "vintage" look with the wide whites. Quote
aero3113 Posted January 22, 2009 Author Report Posted January 22, 2009 Thanks guys, Hey Norm these are radials:D Quote
rolliejoe Posted January 27, 2009 Report Posted January 27, 2009 Stance looks great, so does the new tires! btw, my '51 measures 13.5" front, 16.5" rear with the 6.70-15, so I'd say your old suspension was sagging just a little. Quote
aero3113 Posted January 27, 2009 Author Report Posted January 27, 2009 Thanks Rollie , I have 700 x 15's on and I guess there is not that much of a differance from your 670's by looking at your measurments. I noticed that the car steers alot eaiser with these narrow tires, I guess less friction then the other wider ones I had on. Quote

Curious how you are liking your Sumitomo wide whites, now that you've had them on for a while... Any rubbing issues? My radials will rub the torsion bar bolt heads if I turn to the lock, wondering what issues you may have found with these taller tires? I sent Sumitomo an e-mail to find out if these tires are still available and what price if so. Thanks for the update- Pete Quote
blueskies Posted February 5, 2009 Report Posted February 5, 2009 Got this message back from Sumitomo... Pete Peter, I’m not sure where you are located but that is not a tire marketed in the USA or Canada, unless it comes from overseas on the gray market. We do not handle anything like this. aero3113 Posted February 6, 2009 Author Report Posted February 6, 2009 Pete,I have not been able to drive it much because of the weather here and the salt on the roads. When I drove it home from the shop there there was no rubbing or clearance issues. That's weird that you received that reply back I would think if they had their name on the tire they would know where to get them. Quote
blueskies Posted February 6, 2009 Report Posted February 6, 2009 ...That's weird that you received that reply back I would think if they had their name on the tire they would know where to get them.... I thought it was odd too... maybe they are sold in the Canadian or Mexico market only? I was hoping they might be less expensive than some of the other brands available. Pete Quote
JerseyHarold Posted February 6, 2009 Report Posted February 6, 2009 Don't tires need a DOT number to be sold in the US? Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted February 6, 2009 Report Posted February 6, 2009 I saw a dealer with a sign at the swap meet today selling that same brand of tire...funny I had never heard of them till yesterday and now I found a dealer... Quote
aero3113 Posted February 7, 2009 Author Report Posted February 7, 2009 Could they be a new brand and just starting out? Maybe the sales man that Pete spoke to does not know his product. Quote
James_Douglas Posted December 13, 2009 Report Posted December 13, 2009 Diamond Back sells these tires... http://www.dbtires.com/2009_catalog/hi/19.htm I would not mind a road report on these tires... James Quote
aero3113 Posted December 16, 2009 Author Report Posted December 16, 2009 (edited) These tires are great! The look of bias ply with the feel of a radial. They track as straight as an arrow down the road:D (700R15) Edited December 16, 2009 by aero3113 Quote
