$2.95 in Council Bluffs, Iowa this morning.

FRANKIE47

Gas here went down to $3.59. Far cry from $2.99. Hoping in the next several weeks gas will go back down. Especially when it's going to be too cold to go anywhere.

I paid 2.99 in Des Moines this morning and 3.45 in Ogallala Nebraska this afternoon and found it at 3.59 in Fort Collins, Colorado late this PM. Go figure!

Ed.....does the tank itself leak, or at the rubber hose that joins the neck

to the tank? Mine seeps there if I fill it clear up to the top of the neck.

Haven't been able to investigate yet but since the tank was nicely painted when I put it in about 7 years ago I believe its got to be either the rubber hose for the fill neck or the seal at the sending unit.

I keep fighting the psychology that tells me that $2.99 is cheap! But I think the oil companies are winning on that one. As soon as we consider $2.99 cheap they REALLY have us!

And also, consider that the drop in price from $4.00/gallon to $3.00/gallon is only a 25% drop. Then consider that the drop in price of a barrel of crude has been from a high of $148/barrel to about $95/barrel or a drop of 36% .... therefore gas "should be" at $2.56.

When the price of crude is going up it doesn't seem to take very long to move the price of a gallon of gas up but when the price of crude is falling the trend down is a LOT slower it seems.

Can anyone say "windfall profits?"

Gas hovering around $2.50 in Council Bluffs, IA. Some $2.53-$2.47 ain't life grand.

I still remember when grampa Max would !@#$%^& about 30 cents a gallon. Of course 30 cents would actually get you something back in the day!

Mr. Wolf I don't think we have a secret oil refinery in Omaha but we are probably as close as you can get to being in the middle price of the USA. I don't have a single clue as to why we are cheaper other than ethanol, or regional refineries. Just happy it is so. Mizzou always seems to be less.

I got some for 2.98, almost fell asleep pumping 30 bucks worth. Please remember this is still about 20 to 30 cents higher than last year when a barrel of oil was about the same price as today.

10/17/07 $71.80

10/17/08 $71.85

so whats up with the extra 20 cents?????

See they did it 3.00 a gallon is now comfortable (the market price is 1.65 or so ) the rest is fees taxes and profits and certainly not fo the service station.

When we went to california last august gas was $2.73 in Omaha and about $3.15 in California. Stay away from rte 66 they were nuts! Especially in NEEDLES, thought their gas was xtra special.Anyway gas made its way to $3.40's while we were there and the wife did'nt know how to compensate for our budget! Almost drove Esmey nuts!

So any way to make a long story longer, gas peaked out in Omaha at around $3.89 this year and has gone down in trickles till lately. I suppose the gas prices will rise accordingly come turkey day.

Gas in needles was $3.99 and holding.

Bob you dog I thought you were on vacation! Thought I would help you with gas prices, can see you are on the Ball!

PS Are missouri troopers still sneaky with their model changes and undercovers on the HWY? Last time I was there they had many different colors to the trooper cars.
