BobT-47P15 Posted August 20, 2008 Report Posted August 20, 2008 I like the one at the back.....does it have wire mesh on the windows, like maybe it was used to transport prisoners to the brig?? Sort of resembles a small school bus. Quote

55 Fargo Posted August 20, 2008 Report Posted August 20, 2008 Hi Johnny, I know where there is a 1943 Dodge 2 1/2 ton Army Truck here in Manitoba, it's owned by someone I know. It runs, has new rubber, but needs brakes and other things, it's for sale for $500.00, not in the cards right now, $500 can buy a lot of things for my 47 Chrashler right now.........Fred Quote

Reg Evans Posted August 20, 2008 Report Posted August 20, 2008 Yup, that T249 engine is an early 50's Canadian M37 long block 251. Quote
Guest Kuster13 Posted August 20, 2008 Report Posted August 20, 2008 24 volt everything. A couple of friends each have one and they both say they are worth every penny when off road. Tom Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted August 20, 2008 Report Posted August 20, 2008 Those little trucks are all over down here in Missouri. After retirement from the military they were used by Civil Defense and rural fire districts. Here are two (don't know what model year) in Quapaw, Okla. Even saw one in some Caribbean country on one of our trips. Quote
62rebelP23 Posted August 21, 2008 Report Posted August 21, 2008 who else noticed the mil-spec sealed ignition? i wonder if they're set up with 24v electrics, instead of 6v pos ground? the ambulance with the wire mesh on the windows is cool, too. wish they were closer to me.... Quote

old woolie Posted August 23, 2008 Report Posted August 23, 2008 Yes they are 24 volt sealed ignition and yes they will go through a lot of water and will not stall unless you get the air intake below water. It's all over then. I've got a buddy with one of those ambulances, you wouldn't believe the places it will go. Quote
