  1. 1949 and early 1950.
  2. Very sad news. Our condolences to his family. He will be missed by many people. Harold
  3. I haven't had much success in the past couple of years with wheelcovers. Before then, I sold a few here and there. Lately people seem to want only perfect ones; the 'driver-quality' caps with a few minor blemishes are hard to sell. I have a friend who has been selling hubcaps for well over 30 years who has literally thousands of them (including rare and NOS ones) all cataloged and ready to go, but sales have slowed to a crawl. There are one or two good hubcap websites with pictures so ID-ing yours shouldn't be too difficult. If you post some photos the forum folks here will probably figure out most or all of them for you.
  4. I've listed a '68 Olds wheelcover, 1996 Mobil Collectible Toy truck, and a Saturn radio so far. Next on the hit parade is a '53-4 Dodge backup light and a 1970 Maverick/Fairlane /Torino AM radio. Here's a link to my seller page: http://shop.ebay.com/lessmess/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=50&_sop=1
  5. I bit the bullet and listed a few items on eBay last night. With 5 free listings per month, it doesn't hurt to try.
  6. In my snail-like way, I'm trying to sell off all sorts of car stuff I've accumulated since I was a kid. This is becoming more of a necessity because in a couple of years we'll be selling the house we're in and getting something smaller. What I've done lately is target-market the free classifieds on various automotive websites, so I'm posting items for a particular make on the websites that cater to that make. I'm trying to avoid the eBay circus if I can. The results so far have been very disappointing. Not even a question or photo request. Is this happening to others as well, or am I just lucky?
  7. Absolutely 1951.
  8. If the pump has a grease fitting, have you tried shooting it up with grease to eliminate the play?
  9. My daughter just got me the 2-disc set of "A Christmas Story". I'm a Jean Shepherd fan as well. I'm looking forward to seeing the extra features on the second disc.
  10. Can they drop one off at my house?
  11. Ken, Nice work on the booth. I thought I was the only person in the world to frame and hang the '52 Plymouth fold-out brochure. Looks like I was wrong! Harold
  12. Nice pictures. Some of them look like they were taken in NYC.
  13. You might want to contact a local glass shop and see if they have a NAGS book that goes back that far.
  14. Maybe it's the picture, but the '50 business coupe looks 'curvier' than it should be. That being said, it's nice to see someone making models of postwar Plymouths.
  15. Screwshiney, I live in Freehold and saw that car in Matawan several weeks ago. Definitely runs very well. Nice to see it found a new home. You certainly made a lot of progress on it. I've got a '51 and '52 Plymouth and have been into them for a long time. If you have any questions drop me a PM and maybe I can help. Harold
  16. It's always nice to read a warm and fuzzy article about a vintage Plymouth in the mainstream media. Maybe one of us should contact the owner of that car...if he's not already aware of this forum, it wouldn't hurt to inform him.
  17. FWIW....Charlotte and vicinity is high on the list of places people from the New Jersey area are moving to. A better way of life, nicer weather, and a MUCH lower cost of living are the prime motivators.
  18. It runs and has a title according to the ad. Levittown is sort of midway between Trenton , NJ and Philadelphia. http://southjersey.craigslist.org/cto/1479786027.html
  19. I'm in beautiful Freehold, NJ, near the Jersey Shore. Can't wait to move!!
  20. I've got a creeper and only used it once or twice years ago. I just throw down some cardboard and slide under the car.
  21. It was repulsive. The P15 even had a spotlight. And people have restored far worse cars than the '50 that they destroyed.
  22. Thanks for your responses so far. Can I have a leaking injector that drips gas, which then gets sucked into the exhaust and ignites along the way? FWIW, the car started and ran normally today.
  23. One morning a while back I started my '98 Lumina and I heard/felt a 'booming' come from under the car. It boomed twice or three times and that was it. I shrugged it off. A couple of nights ago, I came home from work and parked on our street (slight downgrade) instead of the driveway, and an hour later when I started it to go somewhere it 'boomed' again, but louder and the floor pan shook. I parked it in the driveway and left it there. I don't think it was a backfire because it was very muffled. I've never heard one sound that way. My concern is that, about 6 months ago, the fuel pump was replaced with an imported item due to cost (Luminas have an insanely expensive 'fuel module' that goes into the tank). Can there be some kind of arcing going on in the tank causing the booms? If that were the case, can't the whole tank blow up? Am I thinking too deeply about this? Has anyone had a similar situation? Any ideas appreciated. Harold
  24. Good to see you're back. Best of luck with your new job. Harold
  25. Nice car! I've got a '66 myself----a Sport Fury convertible-----another 'someday it'll be restored' car, sitting in my garage.
