  1. Don't you wish you could stroll into the picture and drive one away?
  2. I work for a large appliance and HVAC manufacturer and we use Con-Way as well. We're pleased with them.
  3. Why are you interested in raising the air filter? I would worry about it hitting the hood. You'd need to make a longer steadying bracket for the higher filter location. Also, PVC might crack after a while. Your firewall and underhood area is looking good. Is that original firewall paint or have you re-done it?
  4. Good point about tire shine products. I don't use them on my cars. Years back, people would shine their tires with old motor oil...that must have really done wonders for the rubber!
  5. Completely amazing! I wonder how long it took for him to build all that.
  6. Yup! I'll finally be able to use my Harbor Freight coupon-special welder that's been in my garage for the past year or two.
  7. Within the last few weeks, I've discovered that the tire sidewalls on two of my daily drivers have cracks in them. The tires are a few years old, properly inflated and rotated. It seems like the ancient tires on my old cars have survived much better over a much longer period of time. I'm thinking the rubber composition has changed for the worse. Has anyone else noticed this?
  8. This Powell is posted on the AACA website also.
  9. Keep us posted. I'm seriously considering them for at least my '51 (really rusted out..'rocking chair' driver's seat) and possibly my '52 (not nearly as bad...I hope!).
  10. I've got the '1954 & Earlier' parts book and couldn't find anything. I also tried Googling the number and came up blank. A 13** series part number puts it at about 1953.
  11. That is pretty expensive, especially considering it would need a complete going-over. I've seen running/driving examples for far less.
  12. Tim, What are they asking for the '52 wagon?
  13. A lot of those cars are going to end-up being totaled by the insurance companies. They won't want to get involved with complicated repairs even if the car can be fixed.
  14. They must have changed the shipping prices because originally they had the basic shipping listed as 'truck freight' for something like $125. per panel.
  15. Are they still listed on the website? I tried looking them up recently and didn't find them. When I last saw them listed (several months ago) the prices were good but the shipping charges were ridiculous.
  16. I sold new Fords in the mid-eighties and had lots of unhappy Tempo customers. The things were really pretty bad. I had a new Tempo demo and the accelerator cable snapped a mile from my fiance's house, which was 35 miles from the dealer where I worked. Our romantic evening became very abbreviated because I had to go back to the car to wait for the tow truck.
  17. Somebody around here stuck a Chevy six in a '51 Plymouth. Never got it to work right.
  18. That wheelcover went from 'Forward Look' to 'Backward Look'
  19. Then pulsing might mean that whatever liquid is in the tube is bubbling. I think if there is an old leak in the bulb and pipe, the ether has long-since evaporated along with its odor.
  20. If you have a strong magnet you can sweep the area near the car to find it.
  21. Welcome aboard!! You made a great choice of cars (I'm a little biased...I have a '51 and a '52). Where do you live? I think a Group 1 battery is the only size that fits the tray in the Plymouth.
  22. I've got the one on the right (probably 60+ years old..came from an old repair shop)and I've pulled a number of tight rear drums with it.
  23. My vote is for leaving it alone. The way it looks now reminds me of how these Plymouths looked in the sixties and seventies when they were just old used cars.
  24. I had a '52 Cranbrook painted by Maaco in 1986, then sold the car a couple of years later. It showed-up on eBay last year, and the paint still looked very good in the pictures.
  25. I've got a Chrysler Industrial Engine service manual from the 1970's, so they were making them at that point.
