  1. If my father's '52 is any indication, these cars handle snow very well. There was a big blizzard one night in 1961 and my father worked the midnight shift at Kennedy (in those days Idlewild) Airport. In the morning, none of his co-workers could get their cars moving. They all piled into the Plymouth and my father drove them home, no problem at all.
  2. Congratulations on your two new bundles of joy. Parenthood definitely is an excititing adventure. Have you checked the engine with a vacuum guage? It would help disclose mechanical issues.
  3. I'm happy to hear you got the bumpers. They needed a good home!
  4. Bob, The following link will get you into Alldata for free. You'll see service bulletins and and recal details, as well as repair techniques and wiring diagrams. Click on the search results link for 'ARRC', then enter '123456' as your library card number. Next, choose Miegs County from the dropdown list, and scroll down to 'ARRC'. You'll land in Alldata courtesy of the Ohio Public Library system. Harold http://www.oplin.org/search/google/arrc?query=arrc&cx=001266962508864705821%3Arnh3o7t5ome&cof=FORID%3A11&sitesearch=#179
  5. http://cnj.craigslist.org/cto/1763436810.html Maybe the head has a 'P' on it (sorry, couldn't resist!)
  6. Congrats on your 28th. Time sure flies when you're having fun!
  7. The one near me was dark blue with a white top.
  8. The cheapy Canadian Pontiac in those days was the Pathfinder. Someone in my neighborhood owned one. I always wondered how it got to Staten Island.
  9. By golly, I'm not the only person who wonders about whatever happened to 'pled'!!! I haven't heard it used in many years.
  10. Take a good look at the latch you removed and see the best angle of attack. Instead of a screwdriver, you might want to use a long-bladed putty knife to poke around between the hood and nose area. They are thin and strong.
  11. Try having someone pull the inside handle while you slap the hood with your hand. This has worked for me in the past.
  12. I just found this online parts catalog from Mitchell Mopar Parts: http://www.mmpar.com/mmpars/xx6.pdf It's a huge 6.5 MB file and has parts numbers and illustrations just like the paper catalog originally issued by Chrysler. Maybe others here will find it useful. I downloaded it to my desktop for future reference. The best part is that it's free! Harold
  13. Thanks for the lookup, Bob. Now I know where I stand.
  14. I just took another look at the radiator and the number on there is 1309023. I couldn't find that number in my '54 and prior parts book. Any idea on what the application is?
  15. I'm in Freehold, NJ...a mere 3000 miles from you!
  16. Dennis, I hear what you're saying about a used radiator being more trouble than it's worth. Both my cars have radiators and I figured it wouldn't be a bad idea to lay in a spare. Looks like it becomes one more item on the 'sell' pile. Harold
  17. OOOPS! What's a core offset?
  18. Ken, Thanks for the look-up. I've checked eBay and several sellers list it as fitting 49-52, but I don't know what they're basing their description on. Harold
  19. 'Cause I just bought one from a '49. Hopefully I didn't goof. Thanks for your thoughts. Harold
  20. The HAMB classifieds have vendors advertising repro tags. Might be worth a look.
  21. Once you get the title in hand, wait a while and then try applying for a corrected title for the year of the car. Maybe on the second time around you'll get different people and the process will be less painful.
  22. My father had one of those on our original '52 Cambridge. I bought a couple of repros years ago from JC Whitney. They may still sell them in their catalog.
  23. My friend bought a set of Harbor Freight wheel dollies and they were of poor quality and did not roll easily. He returned them a few days later.
  24. One reason the older cars shined differently was because they used lead paint....outlawed these days.
  25. I used Apple Hydraulics years ago for my '52 Cambridge. The work was well done and the pricing was realistic. At that time, they were in Riverhead near the National Cemetary.
