  1. Dec. 2:. After dropping my son off for a birthday party, wifey and I drove over to Rushford to walk the trail. About 45 degrees and cloudy. Passed by the Veteran's Memorial on the walk.
  2. December 1st and still driving the Meadowbrook! I feel blessed to be driving it this late in the season. I took it into town to grab some things at the hardware and the grocery. People are still waving, and one woman told me she was glad to see me still driving it. Right now the car is sitting in the driveway with about a dozen or so little birds around and under it. A couple even flew up into the lower fenders...I suppose to get bits of corn from the highway that had splattered up in there.
  3. Stumbled across this: http://www.robertsmotorparts.com/store/water-distribution-tube-short-6-cyl-engine-works-with-201-218-230-1
  4. Day after Thanksgiving (cont.) Mack our boxer had a lot of fun. He was really enthused to walk and get all the smells, and on the ride he would switch off from laying his head on the armrest to laying it on my son's booster seat. 2nd pic: A quick stop at the grocery store for a few things. When we came back out, a younger woman and her kids were getting out of their car. She said to me, "I love your car! Its so beautiful." Usually I get those comments from men. But she continued and said that she loves old cars, and that she and her husband have a 52 Chevy truck in the garage that they drive often. I was happy to see that a younger person really enjoyed seeing my car.
  5. The day after Thanksgiving wifey, myself, and our male boxer took a trip over to Rushford to walk on the trail. We've had unseasonably warm weather lately, perfect for a drive and/or walk. Yet we were the only ones on the trail...
  6. Thanksgiving Day (cont.) -Parked down the street from Elsie's. I was so tired after eating I almost couldn't drive home!
  7. Thanksgiving Day: We drove the Meadowbrook over to Elsie's Kitchen in Caledonia for Thanksgiving Dinner. They cook up a really nice spread of food. We ate there last year as well for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Its a free-will donation, which we gladly contributed to. What a beautiful day to take the car out.
  8. Weird for us Yanks to see right hand steering, etc. Looks great! I want a ride, too!
  9. Nov. 18 The dogs curled up in the back and didn't make a peep. The female laid on the floor and the male on the seat. He used the arm rest as a head rest like he usually does. At Kwik Trip they popped up to see what was going on. They never made a peep the entire ride. They love to go with. 6,275 miles on the engine rebuild since May 8th.
  10. Nov. 18
  11. Nov. 18 Still driving the Meadowbrook, no snow so we're golden there. We drove into town to take my son's friend home after a visit, and later on we took the dogs with on a little trip to Spring Grove. Stopped at Kwik Trip for gas and a few groceries. Some people waved at us earlier in the day, and some gave us strange looks like what were we doing driving that old car in this cold when there's no car show? I returned the strange look Car ran great, heater worked awesome, and it was such a joy to drive on this beautiful November day.
  12. Awesome! Congrats on the purchase. Keep us updated please!
  13. Sunday, Nov.12 I happened to snap this picture right when my son dropped his sister's coat onto the parking lot by accident! Lol
  14. Sunday, Nov.12 Drove the Meadowbrook to church this morning, then on to Elsie's kitchen in the neighboring town of Caledonia for brunch. We took the long way home as some long awaited sunshine illuminated what's left of our fall colors.
  15. That's a nice buy and a good price. I also admire the Fords from the 70s, as I have had many over the years. My favorite was a 1977 Lincoln Mark V with 67,000 original miles that I bought back in 1992 after I got out of the service. It had the 460 in it, and was such a nice running and driving rust free car. Its long gone now. I also had an awesome 74 Lincoln with the 460, and a 78 Mercury Marquis with a 351 that I got for $150 and it ran perfect and hadn't a rip or scratch on the interior. I've even thought about tracking down a Country Squire station wagon (my parents had one) just for the fun of it. There was two of them on CL recently, not too far from me. Have fun with it!
  16. Nov 11th Cont. Pic 1: My son ready to go Pic 2: outside of Subway. The DNR was in the parking lot taking samples of the hunters' deer to check for chronic wasting disease. Lots of people in orange walking around. Pic 3: The ride home. I drove 50-55mph. Cycled the heater because it was nice and toasty in the car.
  17. Nov. 11th. Tonight at about 5:30pm I fired up the Meadowbrook so we could drive it to Subway to grab dinner. I've found that in this chilly weather (25-30 degrees), full choke and one quick pump and the car fires right up. Some pics before we left. I definitely let the car warm up all the way so I could crank the heater!
  18. Thurs Nov. 9th I drove the kids to school and then I went to work. This text is supposed to go with the previous 3 pictures but somehow after entering them from my phone last night, it wouldn't let me enter any text. On the 10th the grade school (including my kids) put on an awesome Veteran's Day Program. Here's me at home before we left.
  19. Awesome video, thanks for sharing. Reminds me of Qataban and Sheba...the book I mean. I have yet to see the video footage of the expedition; although I attended one of George Farrier's slideshow presentations back in the 90s.
  20. Nov. 3 (cont). Wifey and I took the Meadowbrook out this evening to JTs Bar and Grill for Burgers and drinks....so good! Second picture: Kwik Trip gas station in Spring Grove after a 1/2 hour drive there. I love night driving. The car's heater is impressive. I cycled it every now and then as it will cook you out. I washed the windshield at the gas station and we got a snack for the ride home.
  21. November 3, 2017 Took the Meadowbrook out earlier today to run some errands. Full choke, starts right up...30 something degrees. Definitely used the heater. Pic 1: Warming up before I left. Pic 2: Outside the local hardware store after picking up a new shop light. Pic 3: At a friend's business to check and see if he has the tools I requested to finish work on a die for his plastic injection mold machine. Been modifying the die plates on his mill...mostly last week. I'm a machinist by trade, but haven't touched a mill in a LONG time. I am surprised how good things are going even though I'm rusty.
  22. I have a new stant one in my 51; zero problems in the past 6 months and 6,000 miles since my engine rebuild. Always runs 180 degrees or slightly less. Just making a statement. I personally wouldn't pay $65 for an NOS one; just sayin'
  23. I suppose it depends on the builder, parts used, etc. In my case...$2,500. Worth every penny.
