  1. Guess i never noticed that hood ornament. I did look to me like the steering wheel may have been from a Chevy...not too sure though. It was missing the center cap.
  2. The heater works so well I had to shut it off. We're going out for a cruise later on...
  3. Ready to load up pumpkins.
  4. Check out the fingerprints under the steering wheel cap. I'd love to know the story behind that.
  5. My son reading "The Encyclopedia of American Police Cars". He amazes me with the things he brings with sometimes on rides.
  6. Took the Meadowbrook out this morning to get some pumpkins and gourds. 35 degrees here, and somehow it feels just bone chilling. 1/2 choke and the Meadowbrook fired right up. This pic is looking down at our wood boiler (and wood shed) just before we took off.
  7. Spotted this Dodge in town today and just about flipped my lid. It was the last thing I thought I might see. It was at one of the local garages. I inquired. Turns out a woman from the Twin Cities just bought it for 5K and brought it down here to Houston for maintenance because its not running right. She's friends with the local cop so that's how the truck made it here to southeastern MN. I think its a 52? Its in nice shape! I would love to have this truck in my garage!
  8. Keep in mind too that sometimes people have a tendency to overtighten....which can cause gaskets to leak. Just gently snug it. The gaskets aren't very thick, and don't need to be. Like Plymouthy said: smear a light coat of oil on the gasket before installing. Helps it stay in place as can help it properly seal.
  9. Finally got the aftermarket heater CV installed. The factory one was leaking. The old CV is still in the car, attached to the firewall. The new one is just zip tied into place, and I don't have the temp cable attached because it won't reach. Not sure if I will run a new cable, or eventually just get the old CV rebuilt. For now I've just left the valve wide open, and let me tell you, the heater will cook you out! I've been picking up my daughter from the school play practice at 10pm the last few nights, and its been 40 degrees or less and windy to boot. It was so toasty in the car I had to shut the heater fan off and crack a window. Here's a shot in the garage after I drained the antifreeze out of the radiator. The pic in the driveway was after I took a short test drive to fully warm up the car; wanted to make sure there were no leaks. I will drive the car until it snows no matter how cold it gets. I really like driving the car at night, and especially when its chilly. It just ads to the experience. I talked to a guy that is part of the pit band for my daughter's play (after play practice was over); he had to walk by my car in order to get to his car. He graduated in 1975 and has owned a 67 Mustang since then. He liked my car a lot and we had a 15 minute conversation about it. It was fun even though it was dark, cold, and windy!
  10. What an awesome truck! Thank you for posting this. I love to hear these kinds of stories, and of course see the pictures, too. Congrats on bringing it home.
  11. I had the same problem earlier this summer, Keith. I had my car up on a friend's hoist. He took a look at it and happened to have a piece of 5/16 square stock amongst all of the excess things piled up by his drill press. Slapped on an adjustable wrench and finished the job.
  12. Later we went to Subway; when we returned home it was dark. The coyotes were just a few hundred yards across the road beyond the corn and soybean fields yipping away! They do this every night around 10pm. This video was shot much earlier, maybe 8pm. Audio only as it was pitch black!
  13. We stopped at the market for a few groceries. A guy I never seen before walked up to me in the store and said he liked the old Dodge and wanted to know what year it was. He commented that it was nice that we seemed to take it out to do every day things, like go to the grocery store. I told him we've put on 6,000 miles since May. He seemed happy to hear that. Just passed the 68,000 mile mark on the car. It had 59,125 miles on it when I bought it back in March of 2016.
  14. Driving into town I spotted this pretty nice 56 Chevy parked on Main St. I always like the 56 the best out of the 55-57s. Back in the 70s one of our neighbors had a 56 that was Aztec bronze and white. He had bought it new and always kept it garaged. Once in a while he'd give my Dad, brother, and myself a ride. Pic #2: kids eagerly heading to the car.
  15. Oct. 20 Fired up the Meadowbrook to pick up the kids from school. In the hours before that, I was cutting wood on the neighbor's property and stumbled upon this old Ford car or truck axle. Pretty cool to see. There was also some very old farm equipment sunk into the earth as well.
  16. Lookin' good man! You did the right thing by taking the day off. Otherwise its a day you can never get back. What an awesome way to enjoy it!
  17. Nice vid Keith. I really enjoy seeing your car, its just so damn nice.
  18. Thanks for posting this, it is something I will have to tackle in the future.
  19. It was getting dark by the time we made it back to the car, and I was wishing I would've worn my winter hat! I really need to install the aftermarket heater control valve I got in the mail the other day. Tomorrow just might be the day for that.
  20. Nothing too exciting tonight, but at least wifey and I got the Meadowbrook out for a ride. We drove over to the Houston Nature Trail to take a walk. It was a perfect night for a short cruise, and for a casual stroll on the trail. The fall colors are really starting to look nice around these parts.
