  1. Hi Res photos are nice. Just pick one of the many FREE picture editor programs to reduce size when needed. I use MS PAINT most often, it's on every computer. Just save altered images under a different name than the original.
  2. It should operate only when the ignition is ON.
  3. The knees will be easy compared to that.
  4. I couldn't fab a straight stick.
  5. Great you have such wise assistance. The super project will have you back in A-1 shape.
  6. Do you have everything that attaches to the rear of the tranny? I have an extra brake band, that fits FLUID DRIVE.
  7. So it had some Mods done to accommodate the 25" block.
  8. I'll have to enjoy the outing via your pictures.
  9. Don't know what the differences are in parts books, but here's another. https://www.moparmall.com/Illustrated-Factory-Parts-Manual-for-1946-1948-Chr-p/840-100.htm
  10. Looks good, stuff it tight. Now that you know a weight, compare 1st class, priority and regional box. Sometimes you can save a bit by printing the postage at home. Is $50 free insured enough?
  11. There are different gas TANKS offered for 6 or 8. This place offers SENDERS for both 6 and 8. http://www.atlaschrys.com/Early/Electrical/EarlyFuelGaugeSenders.html
  12. If no specific recommendation comes up, "speedometer repair" searches will turn up quite a few. Study what they offer, you may not want a complete restore.
  13. Similar thoughts ........... roll it up and take the handle off.
  14. Moog CC850 is Aerostar. A search will find ample discussion on their different applications and install.
  15. I have an extra under dash control like the one shown in post 10. '49 Chrysler. Then you need the cables to operate the flaps.
  16. Nice cruiser. Keep us updated.
  17. Waiting to install the Moog CC850 front coils.Best price, with shipping was Rock Auto. Ordered on a Wed, had them Thur. Stock brakes are fine. If MAJOR replacement were ever necessary, including drums, then I would consider an investment in disc.
  18. Next is waiting to see comparison of numbers from the frame. Does that script on the fender say Kingsway or Regent?
  19. Do a search, you'll hear about all of them.
  20. Also ask in Classified Wanted section.
  21. And you have the round metal/plastic piece that goes between the handle and the panel?
  22. This short discussion was about the '42.
  23. What you're doing is just fine. Minor things need attention too, and that elusive variable, time. While still being able to have fun. One small project leads to another. Somewhere along the line you will encounter something bigger and more challenging, putting you in that immobile mode. Tackle it and move forward, one step at a time. It's a long term adventure that will probably keep you busy. You could start a "Project Thread" and keep us updated all in one place.
  24. If it HAD one you might see holes. If not you must drill to install. Of course they work. It also limits visibility. Toss up as to who likes them and who doesn't. Agree with Reg, the one shown doesn't look right.
  25. I had to look for 10W too, found it at Tractor Supply. Do that search, you'll be reading for a month! But you need to learn. That tranny goes by 4 names. my 49 Chrysler is Gyromatic, the 4 speed 'automatic'. Practice how to drive it. The "Fluid Drive" is actually the part between the trans and the flywheel. (like a torque convertor) Don't mess with that. Drain/fill is on the side. 3 1/12 pints. Keep us posted with your progress, or other questions.
