  1. Don't forget to presoak your leather seal in oil before installation. I had to reseal the back of my transmission twice because of not taking this step. I used grease on the first seal. If anyone else knows of a less messy way, I am all ears. I soak them for a day with the same oil that I am using in the transmission. Then wipe them clean and install.
  2. What motorcycles do you ride? I would assume Harley Davidson by your handle...
  3. Wow and ewwwww!
  4. As long as we keep buying from Earl, we will keep him in business. Every vintage speed part I find is either repaired or needs repair. I don't trust other repairs by people I don't know. Perhaps if I can physically put my hands on a vintage head that wasn't run through the ringer, I would buy it. Otherwise I will stick to 1955 and up factory heads or a new Edgy Head. My 2¢ worth....
  5. There is another guy in Upland: Karp's Power Brake Service 66 N Central Ave, Upland, CA 91786 (909)985-0800 He bored out my master cylinder and wheel cylinders and installed stainless steel sleeves to promote long service life. I had a great experience.
  6. Although a 1949 Ford would not be my dream wagon, I like looking at those brochures! In retrospect to what was written on the plaque. When we fast forward until today, who on earth thinks that owning a crummy BMW(Bavarian manure wagon) or Mercedes is a sign of social status? I have had the misfortune of working in a European dealership (a.k.a squealership), nothing could have made me bond more with my well made Mopar cars! You gotta be a glutton for punishment to want to drive one of those cars everyday. Since when is the lack of dependability considered a good thing? LOL I am sorry if I offended anyone into the European cars, but they do pay well to repair them.... And Jaguar, BMW, And Mercedes had put lots of food on my family table for years. Just give me a Vintage Mopar, these cars are truly delightful and well engineered. When you can take a minute, sit in one of these machines and take it all in. The craftsmanship in the interior, the shapes of these machines, and the rugged suspension that can take on any road without requiring an alignment if it gets bumpy... Nothing made today can compare. All the electronics that those Euro cars possess is already in my pocket(cell phone). Our cars are timeless, and yet ahead of their time. Even though I have owned many makes in my lifetime, I will remain a Mopar man until the end.
  7. I tend to have product choices similar to what Rockwood is mentioning. Some times I get a strong feeling on a product that will just give me exactly what I want. Whether it's nostalgia or the best product made on the market. Sometimes it just looks cool and I dig it! George Ashe will be getting some more business from me after my taxes are calculated and paid. He is priority #1! Langdon's Stovebolt has some items that I plan on buying. I have followed Edgy products for a while, and I hope that SSER2 will be kind enough to share some photos with us. I have interest in his products and seek more knowledge in what he creates. -Jack H.
  8. What transmission are you planning on using?
  9. One of my good friends in the Plymouth club told me the same thing that Jerry Roberts just mentioned. I am not sure if he had to reuse the 189 flywheel to make it work. Do some more research and get all the parts rounded up. If you need a 230, send me a PM. I may have a bell housing that may work for you as well.
  10. I tend to buy a full gasket set. This way I have everything I need and prevent back and forth trips to the parts store. The extra left over gaskets come in handy later down the road. I prefer the "Best" brand.
  11. Send Tim Kingsbury a PM, he is easy to reach and is very close to George. He will help you get on the right path.
  12. Thanks for the GM schooling. At a quick glance it resembles 2 Poly engines inline. I have never seen one of these before! Wow! Something new to learn about, I love this hobby!
  13. Wow! Your interior dash is really nice! That steering wheel looks amazing! Unfortunately, if cars sit in Southern California, the sun destroys everything. You are getting a really nice car back in action. Please keep moving forward.
  14. Interesting machine! What a way to represent Poly's!
  15. What have you been up to sent I last visited you? Did you get the Chrysler back on the road that was on your lift? Did Dave ever come back to buy some parts from you? I am going to try to make it to this show. When I bump into you I can harrass you about GM stuff.... LOL And I also may be asking you about some transmission parts.
  16. Hmmmmm.... I likey! I am going to try to see if I can travel up to Murphys and help a friend with his 1938 Humpback, and then travel to the show! Sounds fun!
  17. Give Tim Kingsbury a PM, his grandfather is the one of the engineers responsible for the design and production of the big six. He is from Canada. This wonderful man was part of designing the Hyperpack six! What an amazing family.... Tim is very bright, you will probably want to take notes.
  18. I do! Wow she definitely was very lucky that day. I had a hairy moment at that same location about 17 years ago. I was driving down that grade in my 1959 Dodge D100. My load shifted while in the turn. My truck bucked and the front end pushed towards the first big drop off. With some white knuckling effort, I pitched the wheel and floor matted the gas and drifted around the turn. I had my buddy Joe Bourdage in the cab with me. He was impressed with the manuveur, but I was slightly shaken. I put a big HP engine in that truck and I will never do that again. That engine broke the drivetrain frequently. And it torqued the frame and broke it behind the steering box. Too many close calls for me to endure today. I am not as quick at the wheel as I used to be. LOL Do you reside in Ramona?
  19. Happy belated birthday George. Thank you Tim for turning me onto this post.
  20. Boy, ain't that the truth! Youza!
  21. This is a delightful thread! Now I have a use for my slant six distributors! Yay! Thank you Plymouthy Adams for the tip!
  22. I agree 100% it really does help a lot.
  23. Someday I will have to restore 3 of my wheels. I was terrified looking at the cracks. This gives me some hope.
  24. Those cars are in fantastic condition! Welcome and I can't wait to see how you progress with them.
