  1. When we went to california last august gas was $2.73 in Omaha and about $3.15 in California. Stay away from rte 66 they were nuts! Especially in NEEDLES, thought their gas was xtra special.Anyway gas made its way to $3.40's while we were there and the wife did'nt know how to compensate for our budget! Almost drove Esmey nuts! So any way to make a long story longer, gas peaked out in Omaha at around $3.89 this year and has gone down in trickles till lately. I suppose the gas prices will rise accordingly come turkey day. Frankie Gas in needles was $3.99 and holding.
  2. Mr. Wolf I don't think we have a secret oil refinery in Omaha but we are probably as close as you can get to being in the middle price of the USA. I don't have a single clue as to why we are cheaper other than ethanol, or regional refineries. Just happy it is so. Mizzou always seems to be less. Frankie
  3. Run to the tractor shed and get me a QUART of elbow grease, that and looking for a washer stretcher would usually get me out of his hair. Of course my favorite would be trying to find him an ash receiver! Frankie I was a little younger in those days, and could run all the way to the end of the driveway!
  4. What kind of advice did you get from your pops when working on a car for your first time? Mine was step by step on how to install and compress the rings properly on a piston,so the cylinder walls would'nt be damaged by force. That and be a troubleshooter not a parts changer. Really miss that rascal. Frankie PS Any relative will do !
  5. Gas hovering around $2.50 in Council Bluffs, IA. Some $2.53-$2.47 ain't life grand. I still remember when grampa Max would !@#$%^& about 30 cents a gallon. Of course 30 cents would actually get you something back in the day! Frankie
  6. I like the premise but don't you think a truck tranny would be a little low geared for your application? Young Ed or Merle for president could probably give you a more detailed answer. Frankie
  7. If he tries his chicanaries again Tim, tear him down to parade rest. If that is what it takes. Nobody wants to find a part they really need and then have it ripped from their grasp by deception! Frankie
  8. Deluxe ashtray fancier cover plate? Or just the deluxe model's ashtray? Did they have a block off plate if you did'nt want an ashtray? I pretty much assumed it was standard equipment. Frankie
  9. You should never freshen your breath with bait! Frankie
  10. Wretched excess, Rich better than poor person , infallible belief that our way is the only way, and eventual fall of the empire due to arrogance. We seem to think that we have the right to dictate to other countries when their path is not in our best interests. Just a vent Don, I just think we should fix our own house before it's condemned. Sorry if I got carried away guys, Frankie.
  11. If politicians had to work pro bono they would more than likely be ordinary people doing extrordinary things. Not just a bunch of gloryhounds trying to cement their place in history. I am wondering when we will go the way of the Romans? Frankie
  12. No ideas of the manufacture on the mystery pads? Frankie
  13. is the number in the middle of my paper wrapper. On the left side it says...Road tested Engineered Brake set. Right side says...Designed to duplicate New car brake Performance. Wrapper is blue&white stripes top half and orange and white stripes on bottam half.[maybe faded red?] These brake pads were in the trunk when I bought the 47 d-24 cc, could they be vintage replacement pads? There was no box and no manufacturer's name on the wrapper. I've no plans to use these of course, but they will make a good display item! Frankie
  14. Jim would you put me in for one xxl, but please take it out of the packaging and put some oil or grease on it so that when I wear it, it'll look like I've actually made some progress on my car! Frankie PS on cafepress page 7 they have a clock that says "Middle Georgia Mopar Club" Tim?
  15. No VIN just a serial No. on the drivers door frame, I think the Chrysler historical society can make you a copy of your original build card, for a fee of some sort. You can search for the threads here for more info. Frankie
  16. Universal tractor fluid is hydraulic oil, I was not trying to tell you what to put in your trans, I am so sorry that I typed tranny! It's air bubbles in your fluid drive coupling that will give you improper performance. Thanks B-Watson for catching my mistake, it was a good call. Frankie
  17. No Tim, yes Don. Have to get a pair for myself, want to look a little reet. Tim,I would probably end up removing shin skin everytime I got by the trunk with those rascals you are showing! Frankie The mc shop did'nt have the short tip, who sells it?
  18. Will take pictures at MC shop, you can get them as a tip or as a motorcycle pipe. Very interesting shape indeed, sort of Flash Gordon/Buck Rodgerish! Frankie PS Tip same length as pipe just no baffles.
  19. What are going to do with the original parts, some are common, but all need to be removed very carefully if they are to retain their function. Such as saving fittings, bolts, or electrical connections that go with said parts. Selling these items instead of hot wrenching or tossing away could make you money for your project. Frankie
  20. There is an exhaust tip or muffler at a local MC shop here in omaha that is called rocketship[tip's name not shop] am seriously considering them, pretty neat shape and you would'nt expect to see them on a car. I have seen baloney cut tips but have never seen baloney cut in that fashion! Frankie
  21. Fluid drive is compatible with universal tractor fluid because it will not foam up and cause cavitation, you do not want air bubbles in your tranny. I get mine at Tractor Supply. Frankie
  22. SO very little is interchangable between the dodge&plymouth. The size of the dodge is bigger in every dimmension plus the change in style, besides rad, drivetrain and assorted doo-dads what are you planning on using?
  23. I agree with saving the 2 connections, but would like to add a safety precaution. At the horn button connection where no one will see, you can apply heat shrink tubing over your new soldered wire and old wire to prevent rubbing bare what is left on the old wire and starting your horn blowing on it's own again. I did a little overkill and repeated this process all the way down the steering tube. Marked the wire with tape before it was removed, with string, measured how long the application would be, then completed the process. This way myself and the next owner should never have to worry about it and it looks stock because the heat shrink was not extended past the bottam of the tubing. Frankie
  24. Looks like no. 43 to me. Richard Petty blue.
  25. Bummer ! Could be we should investigate a little more when picking a destination. The main part of the journey was to see relatives in Barneville and Dodgeville. Uncle Arneson probably would have let us go just to see the look on our faces when we returned! Will keep you posted Merle. Frankie
