  6. Well there you go... learn something new everyday if you are paying attention I guess I just have done it old school and not looked outside the box. I still think doing it old school (welding) is the more trusted approach when it comes to floor pans and structural components. My opinion. Yours may vary...

  9. I agree with Lloyd, someone probably swapped it. I guess it depends on who you talk too. I have had some say the flanged don't seal as well as the rope. I really cant say. I kind of wished I did know the answer to that, but like I said, the book said rope, so that is what went back in the old girl.
  10. Plymouthy is right on this. And I just did this little venture on my 49 special deluxe. The bottom seal is fairly easy, The top one? a real pain in the rear. I mean real pain... I wondered if I would ever get the three screws back in but finally got it. If yours is a 49, standard replacement is rope. I believe they make a flanged style replacement, but I wont swear on it. I replaced it with what the book said replace it with. I figure it made it 60 + years on that rope seal. The only reason I replaced it is because I had the tranny and flywheel out. But I go back to what I said, Plymouthy is correct and usually always is! BTW if you want to replace the top one, the flywheel must be removed.
  11. Plymouth is right. E-books are at minimum aggravating to parse through. However the plus side is they do allow you to print a page (once you find it) I like a good hard copy myself. I have not seen any PDF versions. Good luck!

  15. Im not raining on his parade. I simply mentioned the floor pans (not rockers) as far as I am concerned are not up to par. Maybe the rockers are? I dont know. I never bought the rockers. I made the floor pans "After" I ordered C2C's and saw how much modification they would need. I figured... shoot why should I pay for these when I can make better ones myself. and I did. And I had never made a floor pan ever before. The positive side of it all is that they do accept returns so all I was out was shipping. But no I do not agree with you that the cheap one would be all but great. Actually, they were all but great I guess, cause they sure were not great. Hey look, simply my opinion... if it doesn't agree with yours, no sweat. However, I did pay premium dollar for the Ply Doc's floor pan and it was worth every penny. If all his stuff is as good as that (who knows) then it is probably worth the cost as I did not have to do anything but bolt it down.Now, go getcha another cup of coffee!
  16. The bottom line was their floor pans and toe pan were so poorly fitted, I had to send several back and just make them myself out of 18 Gau. (I didn't make the toe pan) However, as difficult as it was with the Ply Doctor, his stuff fit like a glove. I mean amazingly well. I am not the first person to comment on how poorly C2C's floor pans fit without heavy modification. Now, go get another cup of coffee you old grump. ha ha
  17. Well I don't know about the rockers, but their floor pans were not even close. (Classic to Current Fabrication)
  18. You may as well ask what is the best tasting pie..... opinions will vary. I used Old Daddy's kit. It took a little work drilling and tapping the spindles, but a very solid beefy kit for sure. my 4 cents... Old Daddy (Charlie) will only e-mail you so keep that in mind if you want a person to talk to on the phone. Roger from AAJ will likely talk your leg off. I did buy Rogers master cylinder but like the poster above, grinding the spindles just did not see kosher to me. Both I am sure are good angles its a matter of preference. BTW... I retained the stock wheels with the Old Daddy kit.

  21. To each his own I suppose. I got a deal on the tool that it calls for in the service manual. To me, that is exactly what I wanted... even though I could have whittled a broom stick and made it work. My time is more valuable to me and Mr Adams has spanked me enough about the manual I am doing things to the T not to disappoint him ha ha. In fact, I found an NOS TO bearing and sleeve, NOS pilot bushing and NOS clutch Disk... So why not the tool called for in the manual. I am going totally retro man. I suppose you could get lots of different things to work, like about anything if you put your mind to it and have the time or gumption to do it. For me, I got the tool I wanted.   22. Hi Bob, I offered the guy 25 bucks and he took it. Just about the same price as any other universal kit and I don't have all the other adapters etc to mess with or lose
  23. Well I hope its not too clunky, because I just bought one! Looks quite simple to me and no need for other fittings I don't need anyway. Thanks for the tip (I think)
  24. Wouldn't I need an SAE kit rather than a metric? I see there are several out there that are both metric and SAE. The pilot bushing measured out a 0.750 so I see there are many of them that are either 0.750 or 0.749 So looks like i am good to go. Thanks gents...
