  1. Thank you sir.
  2. Does anyone have a specific part number for a 10 spline 1" clutch alignment tool for 1949 Plymouth Special Deluxe 9 1/4 " clutch? Yeah I know I have heard all the suggestions about broom sticks and eyeballing... and that may work well enough for some, but I want the tool. I saw a few online but the lengths vary and I even went to O'reilys and a few of them came close but no dice. Thanks
  3. Which is why I mounted mine under the dash...
  4. I have actually seen guys use bread. They keep forcing more bread in with a dowel or similar object until it hydraulics the bearing out.... Watch some videos on youtube...
  5. Bingo!
  6. For what its worth, my 49 has bias plys as well and I can certainly drive it and drive it well. But the first chance I get after winter work will be adding a set of good radials. You can argue all you want about how you can drive them the way they were intended, but anyone that has switched to radials will attest its a much nicer ride. + radial technology just wasn't there back in the day and It doesn't mean they would not have slapped them on standard if they would have been. Like I said to each his own.
  7. My old tires are safer than whats available today.... If they are Bias ply, I am not sure I would agree with that... but to each his own I suppose...
  8. I will. Coker.
  9. Agree Big Swede... some of these old grumps need to understand not everyone is on the same knowledge level as they are and a little gentle nudge to the right area, post, or direct info is very welcome and hospitable to a new guy. I have found that sometimes a google search reveals more linked info here (and I mean here) than the current search engine does. If it were not for people like Plymouthy Adams, I would have bailed from this place quickly. People like Tim understandably would prefer you find it in the wealth of knowledge available here, but are willing to lend a hand if you cant. A lot of good knowledgeable guys here, a few grumpy and I suspect less grumpy if you actually talked to them one on one .... (I won't name you!) but a great place with a mutual love of the same thing we are after... Welcome friend!
  10. I originally got a C C toe board. I sent it back because it was such a horrible fit.
  11. Which is why I did not go with the AAJ brackets. It was a significant grind I wasn't comfortable with. Charlies brackets simply fit. No grinding. A little spindle hole enlargement and tapping, but no spindle surface grinding.
  12. Yes. 1/4 inch is huge when it comes to this.
  13. I have a good feeling ECI knows they won't fit. But you do have a good point. If they would have fit, I would have bought everything from ECI because its such a nicely done turn key deal. I have no regrets with what I am using but ECI gets so dang close....
  14. Ha... at least we have two confirmations now Earl.
  15. Ok, I wont say anything...
  16. Maybe you have magic rims? Seriously, who knows maybe your Coronet rims may have enough give. I doubt it, but I would like to know myself so please let us all know. I would be happy to be wrong! They say they may or may not fit I think it would do ECI a favor if they would simply find out if they fit or not and tell the prospective customer. They list the year application, I dont know why they can't list if it works with stock wheels or not. I measured according to their specs and it was a no go for me.
  17. I keep telling you guys... they wont fit... and you wont be able to make them fit stock wheels. I studied this very carefully... but hey, have at 'er... The large calipers wont clear the wheel. I really wanted to go with ECI, but I wanted to retain the stock wheels for now so I went with Charlies setup (Rusty Hope) No regrets but I would suspect the larger calipers are going to buy a bit more stopping power.
  18. Sounds like you should be OK. But I know for a fact the ECI wont fit stock rim.
  19. The only reason I did not go with ECI was the fact the calipers would not fit the stock wheels... (clearance)
  20. thank you sir!
  21. Tom. I am not talking about the obvious. Look at the two mounting holes on the horizontal plane.. I suspect some kind of rivet.
  22. Gents, I have not done this yet, but before I do, can anyone tell me what fastens the lover pivot to the vent window frame? From the outside it kind of looks like they could be some type of rivet but I cant be sure. Yes of course I can rip it all apart and find out, but I want to make sure I do it correctly. Thanks for any advice. Jim
  23. Look at my first post. It has the link and videos. You jack the car up high enough to sit on the stand, then you jack the center of the stand up until it locks. Very beefy. Stainless locks... rated at 2000 lbs each. Watch the videos. I will warn you... this guy is a small outfit and is more or less made to order and they are not cheap 269 a pair + shipping which can be salty at 35 lbs each. Luckily I was not too awful far away. But its cheaper than a lift which I cant get reasonably in my garage anyway. So it is a good trade off. These are very high quality for sure.
