  1. Yes but I am happy about that!!! I will wait for the car shows to end so the boy can have his fun, but shortly thereafter, I get to make this right! It dont mean I wont ask questions, I likely will, but I am now in control and I dont have to pay for some guys Harley payments to experiment on my car. Dont get me started....
  2. Yep! You gotta admit Timbo, these solve the problem for paying young experimenters from lightening my wallet and giving a zero result.
  3. I always do all my own work on almost everything. I am still a licensed plumber, electrician and have tons of mechanical experience in my past. So the recent questions about flywheels etc, is because I do not have a lift and I really am not crazy about dropping trannies on my gut these days. I needed some clutch work. I took it to a guy down the street and I will spare all the details (Tim knows them all) but it was a disaster and the guy wont make good. Bottom line is I dont know what they really did or if they put the parts I gave them in. So I took it to another gent I know that is quite good on old cars but the problem is he only works on things at the dealership he works at. So things get pricey quick. He agreed we should get it back apart and see what happened but as I said, 70 clams an hour with no cap gets out of my ball park given the previous situation. I have looked at all kinds of jacks etc and I came across this outfit you see in the pics below. myliftstand.com He is a small operation and kicks them out in small quantities but i was lucky enough to be able to get a set today because a customer bailed out and as you well know timing is everything. I drove 2.5 hrs one way to get these but I can say it was worth it. I wished I would have had these much sooner and now I can get this thing done myself and get it done right. These are very high quality and rated at 2000 lbs each I am happy as a pig in mud.
  4. Exactly.
  5. East Tim... you may get a spankin from the roadking... ha ha
  6. Easy Hoss.... The last thing in my mind was to pull the engine and still is. Hence why I asked and questioned the thought of even doing it....
  7. Ok here is an example of a conflicting report I have heard. I do appreciate all the previous comments, but if I may ask and please don't assume any disrespect, just asking...has anyone done this while on the car? 49 plymouth? Thanks
  8. The pan has been dropped a couple of times for gaskets. However the main seal is not leaking at this point although I do have one handy... I do appreciate all your advice.
  9. Thanks Don!
  10. Thanks for the pic Don. Does the oil pan | rear main need to be removed as in your pic?
  11. In theory it would seem right, but I have had others including VPW tell me that it is easier to pull the engine to get the flywheel off. That just doesn't seem logical, so I thought I would see if any here have the clear answer having done it... Thanks
  12. Gents, I have searched this and not found an answer and have solicited various opinions to no avail... 1949 Plymouth Special Deluxe 218 and original 3 spd trans. Is it possible to remove the flywheel without pulling the engine? Thanks
  13. Thank you for your opinion. Have a nice day.
  14. I suspect you and Ed are a lot a like or I suspect you and he are buds. Despite you think I need a "spankin"... I am not alone in my opinion nor did I "slam" anyone. Quite frankly don't care if you agree with me or not. I will pick my battles as I may and I expect anyone that takes my money to perform as if they at least appreciate it. Actually the owner of AB does meet my expectations. Also keep in mind... you may have been here from the beginning (did you get a badge for that or are you just beating your chest?) and you may subscribe to crotchety behavior, but it is that exact type of personality that also drives the younger folks away from this hobby which is small enough as is.... So you are right... about the empty room, but it may be because nobody wants to put up with that crap just to have an old Mopar.
  15. Actually, you have morphed this into your own perspective with respect to the original post. Nobody said anything about a magical kingdom with low low prices and white gloves that powder your fanny when you enter the room. You did. It is a simple matter of being courteous to a person that is engaging with you to take your money for said goods. In my "real world" I treat people with respect especially if I am trying to sell them something. It is rather ignorant to expect and assume people will bend over and suck it up just to get what it is you have. Seeing how the owner was in total agreement and was very apologetic and did not want this happening on his dime, your point is moot. BTW, the "One Guy" isn't the only person at AB that is knowledgeable. + this forum in and of itself provides more combined knowledge than you would ever get from one person at any establishment employed or gone...
  16. Exactly.
  17. There is no reason why you cant have both qualities. I am a business owner and I better never find out my guys are being rude to a customer. Unless of course the customer is being rude themselves. Rude is what I am talking about, not just dry.. Regardless of how you look at it personally, there are enough people on this thread that do not like being treated like that. Its my money and I will take it where I believe it is appreciated. A little honey goes a long way.
  18. Follow up..... I was able to contact the owner who was very apologetic and reached out to me quickly. Apparently the dry toast guy was kind of inherited with the purchase of the company a few years ago. And even though he is the way he is, he brings a lot of knowledge to the company. As the owner told me, that is no excuse and he will likely need to manage this guy (Ed) better in the future. Its a bit of a double edge sword. However, if anyone calls and Ed isn't on his best behavior, ask for Josh or Chris. I was very pleased to know the owner really cares and went out of his way to contact me. That means a lot to me. Jim
  19. That should be exactly what you need. I just did this 2 weeks ago and found the best price on Amazon. My 3 cents.
  20. I needed a part tomorrow (which I ordered 8 days ago) I inquired about it and he told me it had been back ordered. Since I need it tomorrow because other work is being done, I asked if they ever send out anything when something is back ordered. He said he didn't know how the website worked about things like that. I said Ok, and he just hung up. No sorry about about that, goodbye or anything. I like their parts but this guy always leaves me wondering why I bother. On the opposite side of the spectrum, the Vintage power wagon guys are always very nice and extremely helpful... I am a business owner myself and I would want to know if I had somebody on board that acted like this guy.
  21. I have ordered quite a few things from this site (Andy Bernbaum) in the past, I suspect many of you have ordered more. So tell me, is it just me or is the guy that answers the phone dry as toast? I don't know who it is but he almost acts like anything you ask is a pain in the rear... Not exactly customer friendly in my opinion.
  22. Another option I wished I would have known about in time is a 2 barrel Weber that fits on the existing 1 brl manifold Vintage Power Wagons carry's it for $395.00 Part #03:DCW270 http://www.vintagepowerwagons.com/featured-parts-catalog.html Then download the "Fuel" pdf.
  23. This guy is the best in my opinion. I am very very happy with his work: http://www.oldcarbrebuild.com/
  24. I love this story of how people like Moose and others here are a community that are willing to help their fellow Ply brothers. I know Plymouth Adams has done the same for me and I am very grateful for the knowledge and generosity. We have a great group of folks here.
