  1. Can someone tell me where I can buy trunk cardboards for these models ? Thx
  2. When I tore down my 46 Ply convert I assumed a previous owner had welded it in.. With all the bolts around the top of the dash and the larger two on the sides mine is now removable and seems to be pretty solid. I painted the dash, steering wheel and door trim the same dark maroon as the rest of the car. They sure have alot of chrome for a lower priced car.
  3. What kind of rearend are you planning on with disc brakes ?
  4. Did the hood clear with the 50s chevy truck radiator ahead of the mounting yoke ? I for my 1946 Plymouth used an aluminum radiator for a 1954 chevy car and a 350 chevy V-8 mounting it ahead of the mounting channel.. It has the trns oil cooler at the bottom.. Was not to easy to mount and then I had to have the top modified to clear the hood. Id suppose the chevy truck radiator would have been much better. Will the Chevy truck radiator handle the 440 cooling ?
  5. I have a 350 chevy in my 1947 Plymouth.. The motor which was placed as close to the firewall interfered with the old radiator quite a bit. I would pay the price for a custom made aluminum radiator that fits within the radiator cradle and if it takes several cores have it protrude toward the front. . t.
  6. I bought a tank from Bernbaum about a year ago and found it an imitation. Nothing like the original but it did fit with a little work.. The hole for the sender was off about a 1/2 inch. Nothing resembling the original. Im really dissapointed but think the ones sold now wernt being made then.
  7. 12V to 6V resistor you need for dash gauges are on E-bay for about a couple dollars each. On the fuel gauge the 6 volts goes on the center post and the two wires from the tank sender go on the outside posts. If you get the sender wires mixed up the gauge will just work backwards. Make SURE the sender unit is well grounded. Cherrio
  8. Fortunately for me on my 46 convert they didnt use the woodgrain but painted it brown. Really dont know why as woodgrain would have looked better.
  9. Rusty hope.. Ill see if I can find the site. THX
  10. I wish I had known that they make double master cylinders with booster and brake pedal attached that bolt where the original ones were on the 46-48 Plymouths. $249 @ Speedway motors... Think I may still do that if I can convert to front discs and still use the original rims.
  11. Can you convert to disc brakes on the front and still use the original Plymouth rims ?
  12. You must have gone thru a ton of sand. Excellent work. You will feel good knowing you did it right when its done.
  13. Hook-up a couple comealongs to the garage ceiling and remove the body, roll out the frame and go to work.. Spray penetrating oil on every bolt you can for a couple weeks.. If you dont pull off the body you will surely wish you had when you are done.. It makes it soooo much easier in the long run. IMO
  14. I know a 318 V-8 will boltup perfectly to a 1946 thru 1948 Plymouth std. trns. after taking off the adapter plate they used to fit the 318 to its automatic trns. so Im wondering if a torque-flite will bolt right up to the six cylinder using the adapter plate that comes with the torque-flite.
  15. What is a fair price to have the windshield installed. I have the gasket and glass. Thx, Dale
  16. Doesnt have to be a mopar rearend.. Someone here said he put in a Ford. Think I just need to find one that has the same mount dimensions and wheel width along with the five bolt hole pattern and parking brake cable etc. Dont want to scour the junk yard with my tape measure.
  17. This is one thing I would have done at a shop...This along with installing the windshield.
  18. Can someone tell me which modern type rear ends will bolt into a 46 Plymouth without moving mounts etc.
  19. 1946 Plymouth with Suburban seats..
  20. 1946 Plymouth with Suburban seats..
  21. I welded in a couple 4 inch high by 2 inch wide channels I had bent length ways and put 3/8 studs from all thread in the suburban seat with holes drilled to match in the channels for the back seat. I did a small modification to the original front seat housing to fit the new seat better and placed the other surburban seat in. I may change the front seats to suburban buckets though they are alot more expensive than the third row like new leather ones I got for $30 apice. The suburban third row seats are the right width for the Plymouth. I would paint the original steering wheel and use it if its a deluxe model.. Ill add some pictures later.
  22. Wondering how well the Dakota rear end would fit the 41...Trouble with replacing the old trns is you lose the parking brake. Have you thought about going with Durango hemi and running gear ? That would be way cool.
  23. I installed a chevy 350 in mine and wouldnt do it if I had to do it over especially if it had an awsome six setup like you have.
  24. The car has been sitting for four years not forty years.
  25. Why change the steering wheel ? The special deluxe wheel is beautifull with the horn ring etc. I suggest you get a Suburban third row seat. I found a leather one in new condition for $30 and died it to match my convertible top. They are plentifull as owners either take them out or fold them down. They have a latch so you can fold them forward for access to the back seat in coups. They are 46 inches wide for a perfect fit. The leather buckets cost more but look great in there.
