  1. That's something that surprised me, too. About a month ago or so, we travelled around Germany and crossed the old east/west border looking for signs of it. That's all we could find, a rare, small, roadside sign saying "This is where the border was". It's almost like it never happened.
  2. You would probably have received a bill for around a thousand dollars.
  3. There's nothing like on the job training. Even though it worries the spectators to watch. Good for you!
  4. It is against my principles to like that. But, that is really sharp looking. Don't tell anyone I said that.
  5. I would love to see any pictures you c post. Thank you very much.
  6. I put an Airtex 73201 on two weeks ago. It looked really good, so I staked the pivot pin before I put it on and drove about 40 miles to a car show. It starts and runs very well, no leaks. A few years ago I put a big metal in-line filter between the pump and the carb. No complaints here,,,,,,,,yet. You never know. Right now I'm quite happy with it.
  7. Evil spirits.
  8. Everyone likes a happy ending. Happy motoring.
  9. That's fantastic. I could watch those films all day. Being in color makes it quite rare and even more fascinating. Thanks very much for posting.
  10. If you have a one wire alternator, you should not have your old regulator wired to anything. How I did it; I mounted the 6 volt negative ground alternator and ran the one wire from the alternator to the ammeter in the dash. Then I ran a wire from the other side of the ammeter to the battery terminal on the starter solenoid. All the wires on the mechanical regulator are disconnected and taped up. Functional since 1998.
  11. I have seen some states require a matching pair if that was how they were issued that year.
  12. Ed, the Indiana BMV requires us to present the YOM plate to the local branch for visual inspection, then they run the number to see if it's already taken. The plate has to be in good shape to use, also.
  13. Don, here in Indianny, our YOM plates can be displayed only if the vehicle is registered as an antique. We are issued an antique auto plate which must be carried in the vehicle at ALL times. We are given an affidavit by the license bureau that states the vehicle is registered as an antique, the antique number and the permission to use a YOM plate and the number on that plate. This affidavit must be kept in the vehicle with the antique plate and registration for that plate. I wonder if that poor fellow had any other proof of ownership with him, and would it have done him any good considering the "go by the book" officers he met.
  14. He's a beauty. We had one for a granddog for a while. Gotta keep your eye on them, they like to take off on long walks. You are lucky to have each other.

  20. Kinda turns my stomach.
  21. There. Now doesn't that feel better? Much better. On behalf of the car, I thank you. I have such fond memories of my 55 that I want the best for it. Oh, and you, too.
  22. Thanks, put those pieces back on, it's the character of it.
  23. The hood's been shaved so I can't tell, is it 6 or an 8? Does it have a powerflite?
  24. That's my kind of cat. The only kind to have.
