  1. I gotta say, James, when you do something, you do it right !
  2. Looks like the owner had the "Midas Touch".
  3. That stamp is also on the two I can get at to see.
  4. The wheel covers I have on mine are aftermarket and area all white. The box they came in said fits 1949 Plymouth. I will paint the edges to make them look better, but I need suggestions as to what color. The car is close to chevron blue. I also have a set of 16" metal covers that have a chrome ring arount the center. They look nice but I can't use them.
  5. 6 volt coils are on the shelf at Farm and Fleet stores and Tractor Supply.
  6. clean and untouched
  7. I saw this little turbocharged slant six this morning. The owner said next year it will have twin turbos.
  8. Norm, thats a 56. no doubt.
  9. Since that is what is supposed to be on there, they look perfect. But then I am predujiced.
  10. Norm, I got a replacement remote for my Sears/Chamberlain opener at Menards for about $17. Well, that was a few years ago, but it was half of what Sears wanted at that time.
  11. ummmmmm,,,,,,,,,, Morris ?
  12. Ain't no buffin gonna fix that!
  13. FMSPEED49: Amen to that.
  14. There is a small book around here somewhere in my stuff called "The Verse by the Side of the Road". It has all the signs arranged by the year they were used. Some are quite funny. I remember them along the side of Indiana 130 between Wheeler and Valparaiso. We wondered what happened to them all, figuring people just walked off with them, but the book says the Burma-Vita company went around and collected them all. Gotta find that book.
  15. Re-Welcome Uncle Pekka. Everybody needs a Finnish Uncle. I'm glad you're back, it's like you were hardly gone!
  16. No Bill Monroe fans either, Greg.
  17. Well, if its still in one piece, I would guess it hasn't gone off yet.
  18. Bluegrass all the time. The older, the better.
  19. I would think living with a bomb in my garage would be exiciting enough. But thats just me, I guess.
  20. Don, I had the same problem but it can be fixed easily. Radio Shack has a small piezio (sp?) sound emitter that runs on something like 4-16 volts. Just splice it into the signal bulb and it will beep in a most annoying manner. I put a piece of tape over the holes to quiet it down some.
  21. Here's a picture of a guy removing a water tube with a pair of Leatherman pliers. Honestly, it can be done if you pray to the mopar gods.
  22. If it were mine, I would change the needle and seat first. It shouldn't flood one one crank.
  23. The key doesn't need to be on. Just use a short piece of wire. Hold one end on the BAT terminal of the regulator, and lightly touch the Arm terminal with the other end. It will make a few little sparks and you're done. No need to hold it for any length of time. You don't have to disconnect any wires from anything either.
  24. If you have both rears off the ground and turn one side, the other side will turn the opposite direction IF you have the trans in gear, engine off, or in some other way, hold the drive shaft from turning. When the trans is in neutral, the driveshaft will turn instead of the other wheel.
  25. I don't know if there are valve stem seals, not being an OHV engine. I do know that oil is getting burned on deceleration. It is hard for me to believe that oil could get up to the valve guide area, but somehow oil is getting into the combustion chamber. If there are no seals, and I would not be surprised to learn there aren't, then the guides are pretty worn, which would also not surprise me. On the whole, I do believe that oil consumption is less now than it was before the Bon-ami incident, since I am sure that the rings are in no better shape than the valve guides and/or seals.
