  1. There should be 0 voltage at the choke at all times except when cranking. Start the engine, remove the wire at the choke and check for voltage. I cannot imagine how there could be, but, whaddaiknow? If by some chance you get a reading, I would suspect the starter motor of some sort of oddity.
  2. Rodney, it's good to hear from you again, I've missed your great photos. I'm sorry to hear about your hip, though. Hang in, it will get better.
  3. About 20 degrees cooler.
  4. I can't tell from the picture, but, on that 54 Savoy, it looks like there used to be something on the right side of the trunk that could have said "overdrive".
  5. Wonderful pictures. Want more. I would almost kill for that 53 vert.
  6. My favorite and most used is a 6" charles Parker that cost US Steel a bunch of money 30 years ago. But, being the idiot that I am, I broke it. I still use it for everything, but I don't put a 5' pipe on the handle, either. In reserve is a 6" of unknown origin, but definitely imported. I don't use it much at all. It's got an aura about it that I just don't feel good about.
  7. On one end of the spectrum, I am using all stock exhaust pipe, muffler and tailpipe. It's nice and quiet and I love it. I may be the only one, but I am used to that.
  8. Seems to me that if you can kayak 2700 and 3800 miles, you'd just kayak from California to Japan and save some mileage.
  9. Yet another 2 door sedan! I love it. Of course, I am predjudiced.
  10. That is VERY nice!
  11. Any paper gasket material thicker than a grocery bag can be cut to fit and used successfully. I have even used inner tube rubber. Just make it thick enough to keep the cleaner from making noise, it'll drive you nuts.
  12. On P-15's any cap is zero pressure as the tank is vented below the cap.
  13. Congratulations on a great find ! Sometimes you just get lucky.
  14. J11C's are not resistor plugs. That would be RJ11C. I believe.
  15. I use graphite core wires and resistor plugs set at .035 and get no static. I am in Virginia right now and can't tell you what number they are. NOT CHAMPIONS.
  16. I think you should check your throttle linkage. It sounds like the pedal doesn't pull the throttle open far enough. Have someone hold the pedal down whike you look down the throat to see if it is actually wide open. the throttle linkage length is adjustable across the top of the head. Do you have a thick carpet under the pedal?
  17. Stone guards won't run off and take half of your stuff either.
  18. That is absolutely beautiful ! The envy of the highway.
  19. Man, thats purty.
  20. Don, I've heard that theory of the horses thinking they were going into a barn, but your Aunt Rachel's letter sort of disproves it. It must be great fun for you to read all those bits of history you've got from your family. When I get back home, I will try to get the Plymouth down to Crown Point and get pictures of the bridge on the fairgrounds. Thanks for posting that letter.
  21. http://www.coveredbridges.com/index.php/covered_bridges?cfid=52 Covered bridge pictures.
  22. There are 37 covered bridges in Parke county Indiana. All the photo ops you want, no waiting.
  23. Did you check, Tim? Maybe she said that because it would be an improvement.
  24. Don, I'm almost 68 years old, you can just guess on that. Chicken feet ain't gonna help.
