  1. This is all I need, rear end swap first.
  2. Selling off the body parts to make room
  3. Can't get pictures to load but I had to flatten the firewall plus I went to a Cavalier rack and pinion. I had a 5.3 in it but after it ate the cam I went to a standard 350 Chevy crate motor. If i hadn't gone through so much work to set it up for the 5.3, I'd have gone back to a mopar engine. But I already had the trans and the crossmember built and a new driveshaft made so I just went to a 350 crate motor. Lots of years and money. I had a 51 Plymouth that I put a 318 and AX-15 5 speed in, I had it done over one winter for a minimal investment. Big $$ lesson learned.
  4. Don’t do it!! I put a Chevy in my 48 Plymouth and the Mopar gods have cursed me ever since!
  5. Nice! How’s it drive??
  6. What do you need? Most of this is getting parted out except for the chassis.
  7. Time for some steering and brake upgrades. I found this donor truck; planning a front frame stub swap and rear end swap. I’m keeping the flathead; it runs too good to change it.
  8. I'm thinking of doing the Dakota swap on my 58 Dodge truck.; swap the front frame stub and rearend. There's several trucks around here with either bad engines or transmissions for less than $500.
  9. Flat. It’s ok; I don’t think I would buy another one
  10. Yeah, it's only got 72,000 on the odometer. It feels really tight and solid when you drive it; it doesn't have that old worn out farm truck feel.

    Wiring

The last few cars I rewired I just started with a universal 12 circuit wiring harness from Ebay; they are really inexpensive. That gives you a good base for all your lighting and accessories plus a fuse box. Then I just used the wiring diagram to add what wasn't covered in the kit. https://www.ebay.com/itm/12-Circuit-Universal-Wiring-Harness-Muscle-Car-Hot-Rod-Street-Rod-XL-Wires-New/262582318862?hash=item3d2320370e:g:YVwAAOSwFrtbLbyA
  12. Great job! You’ll have yourself a brand new truck.
  13. A little fresh rubber makes a difference.
  14. Is there any info out there on a rear brake conversion using the stock rearend? I hate those press on drums and one of mine is cracked.
  15. I'd bet somebody on this forum probably has a decent spare engine sitting around they'd sell cheap.
  16. Yeah, I ain't crazy about this one but since I paid for it I'll use it for a while. Maybe it'll relax after it lays flat for a while and the summer heat hits it.
  17. Here you go, I got the mat from Roberts Motor Parts. It fit OK; the only pre cut hole was for the steering column and it wasnt in the right place. But it's better tThe only serious rust is the passenger door and I found a replacement this weekend that needs a lot less work. I put a new floor mat in, cleaned it up, adjusted the brakes, and ordered some tires. I’m using these Dakota wheels as the original were only 5” wide and I couldn’t get a 235/75/15 on them. Other than replacing the door; that’s about all it needs. (For now)?
  18. Good work! Just checked out your thread. Im usually not a big frame swap fan but this came out nice.
  19. Yeah; that’s about it. Not going to mess with a full restoration. The door bottoms are bad but I’ll tackle that later. I just want to fix a few things and cruise it around to the local shows for now. It had some old household carpet that was really nasty so I pulled it out and ordered a factory rubber floor mat. I went ahead and patched a couple spots in the floor and put some por-15 on it to protect it.
  20. Just picked this up; 58 Dodge utility
  21. I found this in Kentucky; its a 58 Dodge utility truck that was retired from a local fire department several years back. Other than some rust here and there and a bad repaint this thing is solid as a rock and runs and drives really nice for a 61 year old truck. 230 inch flathead with a four speed. Not sure what I'm going to do with it yet; the guy i got it from had it licensed and used it for a weekend cruiser. For now I'll probably just put a new factory floor mat in it, replace the dry rotted tires, find some matching hubcaps, and cruise it to the local shows.
  22. I've done two Cavalier rack swaps; one on my 48 and one on my 49. I liked the feel of the 49 best; I used a power rack and just used a fluid reservoir to lubricate it but did not use a power steering pump. With the stock 49 steering wheel it had great road feel and was easy to turn. My 48 has power steering and a 13" wheel. It's a little too sensitive for my taste; considering ditching the pump and going to a bigger wheel.
  23. Looks great! These old Mopars all seem to rust in the same places.
  24. Just locally; we've got several local shows we go to that are within an hour of home.
  25. That was Burger King in Pevely. Does Bonne Terre have a monthly one?
