  1. Just got my new Roberts outside door handles. Tried to put them on and it seems as if the shaft is 1 inch or more short. Roberts is closed for the day now, but checked the invoice and says T165 for 41-53 DT not sure If I got something wrong with my door or they sent the wrong part or unit was built wrong. Anyone had a similar problem ? some other part I'm missing? I can see a square hole that it fits in just not long enough to get to it.

  3. Agree with the Chip Foose comment I can't begin to tell you how many people I have met that have had one on one dealings with him. They all felt the guy truly has a heart, when there's no camera around
  4. Agreed You are members of a small group of people who never quit on their project ebay, craigslist, and newspapers are full of projects that never saw the road. Pat yourself on the back and enjoy your truck.....
  5. That guy has more money than brains anything not worth a million dollars or more is junk to him. some day his going to kick him self for all the cars he did not get due to his closed mind thinking

  8. yup only the price looked different to me LOL
  9. If your on a budget it seems as if the Dakota starters worked for the 360 I used and were much much smaller than the orginal mopar starters. saved alot of space... all I can say on the headers is mock up the steering set up you plan to use first so you are sure on room you will need. would not have to hack up headers later.....
  10. Wow what a story and 51 yrs free parking you can't beat that..... Looks like you got one heck of a truck and a great plan can't tell if you boxed the frame, but it looks likesomeone did work long ago.. You will have no shortage of power thats for sure.....

  20. thanks for the info. But the ads from 1948 that I have seen show the spelling was already changed in all company print ads ect they may not have changed the offical name but were using motor in everything except stock certificates and things like that.
  21. the paint was bought off a web site called TCP Global, the painters house is far from me and he is 75 and never answers the phone LOL. will follow up next club meeting. As for the Motocycle vs motorcycle issue since the truck was not built till 1948 I belive they already used the word motorcycle. some antique parts used will have the old spelling for kicks Funny thing is I have been workin on this for a few years and just yesterday I saw a guy in Germany has 1949 Dodge truck with Indian motorcycle theme he just finished. Snooze you loose----- at least I will not run into him at a car show someday
  22. color is vintage burgundy metallic, and the other is driftwood beige metallic (looks gold to me) got a lead on the cat
  23. Well things don't always go as planned but a few things had to be done different to try some of the things I wanted to try. First the paint was nothing close to what I wanted and as you know this truck was going to be wierd in alot of peoples eyes. Had to change some stuff in the bed to allow wider bed wood and less strips so I can later router Indian medalion into wood, and later have second indian bed tank. Since it will be motorcycle theme I have kicked around door handle ,pulls and window crank ideas. I know the paint job will not be great but A guy in my car club is giving it a try. the guage panel was an extra glove box front witch will be mounted right in front of steering wheel. Have tons of work to do yet, exhaust, wiring glass ect but I will not give up LOL
  24. wow thanks for the tip on the gasket holes will have to look at that (I have a steele rubber gasket.) will make sure to dull tips some if screws I get are not.
