  1. Didn't mention that as one of the things I have done. I have replaced all thr rubber hose from the driver side along the cross member to the pump already
  2. O.K. here is the situation with my daily driver 48 coupe and what I have done so far. About 3 months ago I thought I had run out of gas (guage does not work) so I added some gas from the 2 gallon can I carry in the trunk and made it to the station. A couple of weeks later, ran out of gas again only this time I knew I had gas in the tank as I had just filled it the day before. So, I let it sit for about 4-5 minutes fired up and ran several miles then like it ran out of gas again. Same thing let it set a few minutes fire it up and go only the distance traveled got shorter each time. No swoosh when the cap is removed so I think I am getting good venting of the tank. Changed the carb, dropped/cleaned the tank (a lot of crud in there) blew air back through in tank filter and ran it a few days no problem. Then it started happening again. Changed fuel pumps from spare engine and it ran fine for about 2 1/2 months. Then Friday it starts all over again. Took me about an hour to get back home a total of about 4 miles. Bought a new NAPA fuel pump and it ran fine Saturday until this morning. Made it about 2 miles from home and it started again. Since I was dressed for work and now late for an appointment couldn't crawl under to see if there was fuel in the bowl. It acts like it is running out of gas. Runs fine then starts sputtering and then dies. Let it set, try to start and the engine cranks over several times then starts runs a little rough then smooths out for a few blocks then happens again. If I keep my speed down it runs longer. Which makes me think that the higher RPM empties the carb bowl faster like the pump is not keeping up then the engine cranking fills the bowl for the next short run period. Anyone have any ideas? Could it be the coil going bad and as it heats up gets intermittent spark? Sorry for the long winded explanation but I don't know where to look next.
  3. I just got my new NAPA glass bowl pump yesterday. When I opend the box last night to install it I tried to acuate the pump by hand and could not push the arm down. It will move upwards slightly but not down. Should I be able to move it by hand? I can the old pump, but then maybe that is why it is not pumping enough fuel.
  4. How about this on a black shirt? Or this on any color shirt?
  5. Just reflections thank goodness.
  6. I think this photo (especially if someone with photoshop skills could get rid of the 2 pickups) would make a great shirt for the Plymouth guys with the logo and address included. The fact that it is my car has in no way influenced my opinion.
  7. Does this strike anyone else as a bit odd? Back to the Fifties - in a 1964 model? Must be a Marty McFly thing.
  8. Sorry, left out some critical info. I have a 48 P15 Club Coupe. What broke is the front leg on the passenger side. On closer inspection he pretty sell melted the whole dang leg when he welded them. Very little left to work with that I would trust. He must have gotten the welder for his birthday and needed to test it out on something. Hopefully he has polished his skills a little before he decides to weld anything critical.
  9. It is my 48 Club Coupe. When it came time for my youngest daughter to have a car we cut a deal. If she would take my 2000 Camry I would get a Plymouth. Then we told her mom . Mom needless to say thought I was crazy (and maybe I am) and said we couldn't really afford to buy me 2 cars so I pipe up with "I'll drive it every day, I don't need 2 cars" . So far it has worked out OK. I have only had a few instances where we had to do some shuffling of rides like when I was doing the front suspension and brakes.
  10. Previous owner at some point welded my seat tracks so that they no longer slide, they also welded them to the floor. When they welded them to the floor they pretty well trashed the front legs. Now the passenger side has broken loose and I don't think there is enough decent metal left to fix it. Question is does anyone have an extra set they would be willing to part with or do you know of tracks from some other vehicle that is a close match?
  11. Garmin is the absolute best on the market. Everyone should have a garmin in each and every vehicle they own. You should all go out and upgrade each time a new model hits the market. This is a totally unbiased opinion and the fact that Garmin buys millions of dollars worh of components from my company has in no way influenced my opinion.
  12. Here are a couple of mine.
  13. And zero bids, imagind that
  14. About 25 miles north of Austin on I-35.
  15. Currently I have the rebuilt stock brakes on my daily driver P15 Coupe. They stop the car alright for most circumstances. However, being a daily driver in Dallas traffic I feel I need a little better performance. So, I am switching to discs with an Olddaddy kit this summer. Around here it is next to impossible to leave stopping distance between you and the car in front of you. Because the Bozo in the next lane will fill the gap just as soon as it is big enough for him to squeeze his SUV into.

Juliano's has multiple colors available. http://www.julianos.com/fender_welt.html As does JC Whitney http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/Product/tf-Browse/s-10101/Pr-p_Product.CATENTRY_ID:2008776/p-2008776/N-111+10210+600013119/c-10110/reviewflag-1
  17. I bought mine from Langdons. A bid higher price that the ones which show up fairly regularly on Ebay. But, since I was already buying a bunch of parts from Langdons and Tom was so willing to offer advice and information, I went ahead and purchased from him.
  18. I was thinking that maybe they are like that because it is going to be so damned fast now, that if they didn't tilt to the front all the gas was going to slosh out the rear of the carbs.
  19. It is the fan that was on the engine when I bought it out of a 53 wagon. Far as I know it is stock.
  20. The rear carb mounting flange on the Offenhauser intake is just slightly taller than the front one. It is that way on all the Offenhausers I have seen. Why exactly I do not know. The difference is not as big as it appears in the pictures and the engine cradle I built to transport the engine/trans home from Colorado in had to be modified slightly once I got there to allow for the OD solenoid. So the rear of the engine sets a little higher than the front in the cradle which I think may exagerate the look some.
  21. I did much the same with my new engine and OD transmission plus a few bits of "bling". Will be out with the old and in with the new in the next couple of weeks after my travel schedule slows down.
  22. I am going to hijack this a little, but we are still talking about the Langdon HEI. I am trying to install mine. #1 is at TDC and the stock disty has the rotor pointing at 7 o'clock with the vacuum advance can at about 10 o'clock. When I try to install the Langdon HEI with the vacuum advance can in approximately the same position the can hits the block before the disty shaft engages. The only way that I can get it in far enough to engage the shaft is to turn the disty to where the vacuum advance can is pointing at 6 o'clock and then the shaft engages with the rotor pointing to either 3 or 9 o'clock. Here is a picture of the Langdon and stock side by side. There is a big difference in the location of the vacuum advance can. Has anyone else with this disty had this issue?
  23. I wonder if this is the same car shown in the gallery section? The one in the gallery says it will have a 440 but that could have changed. http://www.merc583.addr.com/mopar/framesets/photoframeset.html
  24. Tim, I have Southern Air's Maxi II Heat/Air with electric controls. IIt's not installed yet so I can't tell you how it works but thought I would throw it out there. http://www.southernrods.com/categories/heating-and-cooling/heating-and-cooling-systems/products/product-1978.html Here is a cooling guide that I found from Street Rodder magazine. While it is basically an advertisement for the manufacturers there is some good info. http://www.streetrodderweb.com/tech/0706sr_cooling_guide/index.html
  25. Larry, What were the electrics out of?
