  1. She certainly does Norm but there's no telling her that!
  2. Its not just the elderly. My grandmas house needed wiring help bad. Between her and two of my moms siblings they hired a guy who did lots of work and didn't fix the problem. She still looses power in 1/2 her house. Oh but she's got ground fault outlets in the kitchen now....woohoo. Oh and the genius turned the fridge outlet into a GFI too. Norm what kind of windows did she get?
  3. Tod Its good to hear that part about the heat riser. The spring is broken on my coupes heat riser and the trucks don't have them. I really need to get mine fixed. In the spring and fall I have major choke issues with my truck and car. Guess I need to keep practicing on the adjusting part of it.
  4. Dave I've got 215 85R16s on my truck too. They really do help with the top speed. The only issue I had was my truck got so much taller I had to adjust my garage door so the roof wouldn't scrape on the door!
  5. Hmmm Bob that sounds good. Might have to try one!
  6. Not a chemist but I've always heard the same thing. Water does the best cooling antifreeze is for anti-rust and freezing. Thats why you mix. My neighbor has a very hi-po 64 plymouth with a 440. The hi-po creates lots of heat so he runs only like 10% antifreeze just for corrosion protection but then he has to drain it every fall. He lives 5 houses down but I can always tell when its time to leave for the car show.
  7. Its the 265CI inline 6 hemi head unique to Australia. 270HP with the 6pack option which was I believe triple weber side drafts.
  8. David there was one heck of a 57 Fury in the neighborhood when I was growing up. This was in the 80s. Low milage original car in perfect shape. The old guy that owned it had bought it new in 57. When I was maybe 12 he got in a small fender bender and sold it. Someone sure got a nice car. I'm torn between liking the 57 or 58 better. The 58 has a little better grill but then its beige instead so I guess I'd take either
  9. Dang I forgot that I also wanted a 59-60 el camino! Ohoh I guess I have a top 6 now.
  10. 62 Chrysler 300 Convertible white with red interior 48 plymouth club coupe pretty much any mopar from 55-56 39-47 dodge pickup 78 little red express Guess I've got some of my bases covered as well. Or maybe they make the list because I already have them and enjoy them.
  11. Don't let him discourage you from asking questions. Its totally not your fault it got out of hand. Ebay is open to all who choose to use it. I'm sure its not the first or last time someone lost an item to someone else.
  12. I must say I am quite shocked to read something like that on this group. We usually get along. I know what Davids intentions are and I agree with him. I'm hoping he gets going quick so I can buy a dash from him. I know he's not hording parts. Way back he knew I was looking for a factory turn signal unit. He found one mislisted on ebay and instead of buying it and turning it around for a profit he sent me the link. Glovebox locks cant be that hard to find either. I have a couple extra without keys. Was going to give one to Mike Maker-has he found his way to the new group?
  13. That's the one thing that really scares me about my storage place. In the spring they usually start everyones car to move around and let people out. The people doing it are pretty young-how many of them are going to know to push that pedal on the floor to start it?
  14. I rebuilt both the ones in my coupe and pickup. Not hard to do at all-easier then a carb. The kits come from antique auto cellar. Ed
  15. Dad had the pedals rebushed for his 40 plymouth. The machine shop redid them. Another thing to check. In my 46 the clutch pedal scrapped the metal floor. The noise was really annoying! I figured the bushing was bad but it turned out the pedal was bent! Little heat and a big pliers and no more noise.
  16. I had to replace my oil pan so of course I needed a new gasket. It was a few bucks from napa. Wouldn't be too surprised if they have the rear end seal too. Ed
  17. Joe you can certainly do either. I would not do both. The overdrive tranny is the exact same length as the standard 3spd. The extension housing is different to hold the OD parts. If you got a 3.54 or 3.23 you should be able to cruise on the freeway nicely. I have a 3.73 in my coupe and cruise about 60-65. In my truck I have a 3.90 with some really tall 16s and it goes about 60. Mine and dads OD cars with 3.90 rearends will go 65-70. Keep in mind unless you do other changes you will still have a 60 year old brake design that may not be enough at 75mph. Ed
  18. It all comes back to driving it. Everyone of mine and dads flatheads has a 160 thermostat in it. There's I think 10 of them now. As long as they are taken out and driven more then 2 blocks to the store they will heat up and evaporate the gunk out just fine. In the summer the higher thermostat seems to leave you that much closer to over heating by the time that hotter water gets into the radiator.
  19. I have that model in dark blue. Think I paid like 8 bucks off the bay.
  20. That really messes us up. In MN a bill of sale means nothing. Then they make you post a bond for the value of the vehicle. The title for my truck ended up costing me like 150 bucks!
  21. Don't chuck them. As Bob mentioned they are common on old trucks.
  22. Its about 700 miles for me. My room is reserved and I'm sure I'll be taking lots of pictures. There are a few other guys in our plymouth club that are planning on going too. Paint job or not I should be in my 48. We'll probably split the driving into 2 days.

    Main Bearings

Did you do the cam bearings? Thats the most common cause of oil pressure loss. The other bearings get issues after the cam ones go and the oil pressure drops.
  24. Search microsoft for powertools. That right click to resize is a powertool option. I have it on my pc and its great. Ed
  25. I met Bruce at back to the 50's last year. Great guy. The bed floor in my truck came from mar-k but dad got one from Horkey for his plymouth along with a bed front and tailgate. All good stuff.
