  1. Let me tell you about body flex. When I got my pickup it was all apart including the cab mounts. Well little did I know that the frame horns were moved up on the frame post war so when I copied the bolts from dads 40 ply they were way too long. One day as I was entering the freeway I hit a bump. The cab flexed and my door came open at like 50mph! WHEW scared the you know what out of me. Luckily I had my elbow out the window and was able to pull the door shut.
  2. Alright. I was just wondering if or how that bumper was modified to fit.
  3. There's a bright yellow 4dr and a 2dr sedan on craigslist here in MPLS if anyones interested. Both are from the same seller but the 2dr has a 350 in it.
  4. I like the 49 plymouth front bumper on that b2. I've got a set of those I hope to use on my 40 plymouth pickup project. Is that your truck?
  5. In 39-47 the 3/4 ton also used 15" wheels on the 3/4 tons but they have a different bolt pattern. You should switch back to the 1/2 ton brakes to keep the 4 wheels matching. You are right about the 4spd for final ratio but the stump puller might be what he needs to get moving with that gear ratio. You'll have to keep the 4spd bellhousing with the tranny. They are drilled differently. Also you may need driveshaft work because the 3spd and 4spd are different lengths.
  6. Its not a 5L. Its a 4cyl I believe possibly a v6.
  7. My cousin has a rusty POS mustang I can have. I think he said its an 86. I'm going to check and see if its a 5spd. I believe I read somewhere you can put the truck shifter on these and then swap it just like the s10 ones. Does anyone know what kind of rearends these mustangs used? I'm wondering if that might be usefull to have also.
  8. Sorry but that is way funny! Maybe the Canadian models didn't have green? Seems odd to make a second set of gauges but I wouldn't be surprised.
  9. Allan I know you are in Canada but I can't recall if your car is. If it is it might be different. Anyway the US 50 plymouths have green gauges. Yours may be a lot more faded then you realize if they are just grey now.
  10. Joe this clutch one is the only one that shouldn't get much grease. Something is wrong with your control arm bushing if it wont grease. Yours was probably really tight if it was rebuilt.
  11. Been there done that too. Dad was pretty ticked when we went to leave for dinner and his clutch pedal fell to the floor! Guess we all had to learn that the hard way!
  12. Check your junkyards. Got this one last summer. That's me under a 52 pulling the OD.
  13. He has one on the front too. I was about 24hours late in trying to buy the blue coupe. It did go to a good home though.
  14. This spring goes to a different place but the linkage end is right. It takes the place of one of the cotter pins that holds the linkage together.
  15. I thought that was one of the firewall pad clips.
  16. Like this??
  17. Here's a 39-47 cowl and you can just see the spring at the bottom. There is just a little hole right where the floor meets the cowl and thats where the cotter pin goes.
  18. Bob Thats a 51-52 dash alright. There are 4 screws in the corners and the whole thing will tip forward to be worked on.
  19. Thanks for the little history of the San Leandro plant. My dads 51 convert was built there. It didn't come to MN until the early 60s.
  20. That blue fender in the back of the pickup is a spare for the 55 dodge. I got an email back from the buyer. He called it his favorite project. I hope to hear its back on the road someday.
  21. On the 39-47 dodges it goes to the head of a cotter pin thats put through the firewall.
  22. John if the temp gauge is stuck you can take out 2 screws and remove it from the cluster. Then remove the rest and leave that one hanging. I replaced mine in the car without removing the cluster. Its not much fun but possible. Ed
  23. Lots of people keep the flathead and change the rear end for the exact reason you mentioned. Don C still has a flathead but a modern rear end. One of my friends in the 39-47 truck group also has a flathead with a modern rearend. I hope to have a flathead with a 5spd and a modern rear in my 40 plymouth pickup someday.
  24. And apparently the mopar heater motors are wired the same was as a starter. Mine spins the same way regardless of which wire is hooked up to what. Thats why I'm still lacking a drivers side motor.
  25. Charlie Think some Car crafts would go over well? There is the occasional mopar muscle mixed in to them.
