  1. I'm not at that stage yet! It's a worry... Desotodav
  2. Welcome aboard Ray. I used the wire diagram provided by Allan to assist with wiring my truck. Check out this link... http://dodgepilothouseclub.org/know/wiring_harness/wiring.htm . Desotodav
  3. I found my Unibit's great for drilling the holes (for the knobs) in the dash fitting my 802 Radio. It looks like Irwin makes them up to at least 1 inch - is that a big enough hole?.. http://www.irwin.com/tools/drill-bits/high-speed-steel-fractional-hole-enlarging . Desotodav
  4. Email sent to you Andy... Disc brake backing plates are being made without modifying the stub-axles or king pins in case a fella wants to change back to original down the track. 1941-1954 MOPAR cars (and possibly trucks too?). Pretty much for Oz vehicles only - GM or Ford stud pattern. Desotodav
  5. AndyD, I have a mate working on manufacturing a quantity of disc brake front axle setup/s for mid fifties MOPAR cars. Email me if you think this would be suitable for your contact and I will forward you his details. Desotodav
  6. Check out this link Bob as I recall adding photos of what I did with mine a while back... http://www430.pair.com/p15d24/mopar_forum/showthread.php?t=26333&highlight=bath+filter . A forum search of 'oil bath air filter' will produce other results. Desotodav
  7. They must have come that way from the factory. Here's a NOS one on Ebay with the stickers upside down (up the right way)... http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/COIL-NEW-OLD-STOCK-1930-40s-DODGE-PLYMOUTH-CHRYSLER-FARGO-TRUCKS-/280826375318?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item41628e6c96#ht_525wt_1163 . 8. Great work BH. that Spring Special is certainly a treasure. I did a similar thing by documenting the rebuild of my 52 truck. I'd like to think that someone else might benefit by my 'learning curve'. It's been listed before, but here's the link for those who haven't seen it... http://gallery.oldholden.com/Streetneat/album73/Davins+Desoto/ . I'll update it when I have a few more cosmetic things finished. I'd love to see your truck rebuild documented Mark - given the time, effort and high quality workmanship that you are putting into the project. Desotodav
  9. I found that my accelerator pedal wouldn't return when I disconnected the spring from the throttle linkage to the inner guard. It works fine now though! Check out this post where we discussed it... http://www430.pair.com/p15d24/mopar_forum/showthread.php?t=26020&highlight=throttle+spring . Photo of my setup at #69. Desotodav
  10. Interesting point you raise Bob about the part #'s. My mirror bar has the recess for the mirror-mount hole pressed towards the inside of the bar whilst yours has it pressed out. See photos from post's 3 and 5 from this thread... http://www430.pair.com/p15d24/mopar_forum/showthread.php?t=30224 . Maybe it's just because we do things a little different here in Oz??? Desotodav
  11. Try a gravity feed direct into the fuel line of your carby (bypassing the fuel pump) as that might eliminate the fuel pump - or prove a carby problem! Desotodav
  12. The cost of diesel here in Oz (Queensland) is presently about $5.68 for one of your US gallons. Our family business is consistently using around 3170 gallons of diesel per week. I often wonder whether it is the government or the oil companies that are making the profit from fuel sales. When people ask me what sort of mileage I am getting out of my old truck, I tell them that I have no idea - when it needs fuel I fuel it up. The cost of my fuel bill pails into insignificance when one considers those with a fleet of vehicles to run daily!!! Desotodav
  13. The headlight inners are looking good Mark. I'll send you some stainless steel springs for them later this week. Desotodav
  14. I agree with Bob on that one Jeff. The windows install from the inside and they come out the same way. If you cut the outside edge rubber away a little you should find that the windows push in towards the inside fairly easily. Desotodav
  15. Try this one... http://www.robertsmotorparts.com/catalog.html . Desotodav
  16. .. but this guy won the 'best sense of humour' award for his comments... Desotodav
  17. ... and a few more... Desotodav
  18. I was at a show myself today Tim and spotted a few Mopar's. Enjoy... Desotodav
  19. You guys lost me there for a while, but I see how it all works now..... A guy took his blonde girlfriend to her first football game in the USA. They had great seats right behind their team's bench. After the game, he asked her how she liked it. "Oh, I really liked it," she replied, "especially the tight pants and all the big muscles, but I just couldn't understand why they were killing each other over 25 cents." Dumbfounded, her boyfriend asked, "What do you mean?" "Well, they flipped a coin, one team got it and then for the rest of the game, all they kept screaming was... 'Get the quarterback! Get the quarterback!' I'm like...Helloooooo? It's only 25 cents!!!!" Desotodav
  20. I had a couple of my B&B carby's rebuilt recently. The first pic is a DTA2 and the second is a DTF2. The DTA2 has a slight modification to the carby by way of an additional adjusment, but the photo was posted to give you an idea of the linkage that you will need to manufacture. I hope this helps you jorswift - yours looks more like my DTF2. Desotodav
  21. Welcome aboard imearl49. Nice solid looking truck. Got any inside pics? Desotodav
  22. I got this one a while ago and thought it may be on-topic here... .Now that's trust and true love for you - having your wife help you test bullet proof glass in 1932. I would imagine that workplace health and safety people would have way different ideas of how to test that sort of glass these days! Desotodav
  23. The ornament mounting holes in the hood centre from a few of my trucks were elongated (see photo). I'm not sure if yours are the same over there, but this would allow for a slight amount of adjustment for the ornament when installing. I had problems with the grey one in the photo as it ended up being too long and distorted (from all of the panel work done?) to fit back on the 52 truck, so I ended up using the black one in the photo. Desotodav
  24. Dan: has your spring bushing bottomed out on the end of the shackle? (like we talked about in the other post). That would cause the grease fitting to strip the thread as there would be insufficient room for the base of the grease fitting to screw in. Desotodav
  25. Cruise control? I reckon that the throttle lock could be adjusted to suit when you got your speed up around 55 on the highway. It just wouldn't cut out like the modern system when you hit the brakes etc.!!! I had a mate who run a piece of string through his firewall which wrapped around his finger and pulled on the throttle linkage. He used it like a cruise control in his 'poverty pack' work ute. He kept speeding up going around corners though. I joked with him saying wouldn't it be a mystery if he was ever killed in a car crash and the police had to work out what the piece of string attached to his finger was all about. He's retired now - and still alive! Desotodav
