  1. Take'em together. Remove front clip and bumper. You'll be in better control with less at risk. Give me call, we can pull it at my shop. 48D
  2. Wow....that's beautiful. A work of art. 48D
  3. This is correct. The front fender changes at 1.5 ton. 48D
  4. Awesome!!!! Nice work JJ 48D
  5. Great info.....all my trucks are 4 speed. So a 4 speed, I'm guessing, it has a "granny gear" ? 48D
  6. Everything I've read has the 90 as the last year for the 5 bolt. Mine is a 92 and has 6. I'm sure a 5 bolt spindle swaps in to most years, just guessing. Wikipedia: "Also debuting in 1991 were the six bolt wheels (replacing the earlier five bolt wheels) based on Dodge's marketing attempting to differentiate the Dakota from competing manufacturers' trucks and the upcoming new Ram introduction." 48D
  7. Check out Bud's threads. http://www430.pair.com/p15d24/mopar_forum/showthread.php?t=13040 http://www430.pair.com/p15d24/mopar_forum/showthread.php?t=13524 1st Gen is 87-96, 2nd Gen 97-2004, Gen 3rd 2005 to present Though there is debate as the begining of the second gen being 92-96. Offically there are 3 generations, but read this from the disscussion section of Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dodge_Dakota "No, there are 4 generations. The 87-91 only share the cab and bed with the 92-96. Suspension upgrades, a different engine family, completely different electronics, etc etc............certainly there aren't a bunch of seperate Gen 1 and Gen 2 truck clubs based off of those body styles for no reason. Also, any R/T owner will say his truck is a Gen 3, and the few people that own the latest body style agree they are Gen 4's. Theres an old saying...........if one person tells you that you're wrong, you can laugh and ignore them, but if 100 people say you are wrong, its time to correct yourself." Devilbrad, owner operator of www.devilbrad.com an all late model Dodge Truck community and Dakota enthusiast since 1987. They made the engine compartment bigger in 91 to fit the 5.2. Seems a 92 or 93 would be a safe choice for a 48 Dodge. 48D
  8. Don't have the hood Dutch. What you see is what I have. I have two 1948's that that are fairly complete, but my two 1950's aren't. I'm trying to learn something here, niether 50 has much of a chance being original. So I guess the collum shifter isn't a clue about which tranny came with the truck. Hey Tom, what years are your trucks? 48D
  9. Cool. April, 17th 2010....3rd annual Tailgate BBQ..... 48D
  10. This 50 is a parts truck. No motor or tranny. It has a shifter deal on the collum I haven't seen before. Thought maybe its was related to the kind of tranny it may have had. 48D
  11. Anychance you'll make the Tailgate BBQ in Clements, Ca. next year? 48D
  12. Nice work Dutch! This was a good thread for me. Not having a "Fluid Drive" or "Truck-O-Matic", it was interesting reading. I have two 1950 trucks now, one with a collum shifter. Is this shell of a truck trying to tell me its a "Fluid Drive" or "Truck-O-Matic"? Or is shifter location not related. 48D
  13. I don't know.....sounds like a guy wrote a check for every part of this resto and is trying to make a buck. If I bought a new Dodge Hemi truck and used it for a donor for any classic truck, I hardly think it would be 150,000.00.....but, its his truck, not mine, and at that price...its gonna stay that way. lol. 48D
  14. Take a few pictures of the damage, and maybe we can make a few suggestion. These are a few threads I was involved with awhile back. Hope it helps. http://www430.pair.com/p15d24/mopar_...ad.php?t=12710 http://www430.pair.com/p15d24/mopar_...ad.php?t=12742 http://www430.pair.com/p15d24/mopar_...ad.php?t=12801 48D
  15. That's a great story Billy. Truck looks great! A B-1 flat bed, short running boards, and Mater eyes. lol. You're set man! 48D:D
  16. Yep, that's Reg's truck...I recognize it.....its yellow. 48D
  17. I guess things happen for a reason. If I had finished my truck, I would have been to sick to race it ! lol. I got the flu last week and have had a terrible time. 9/15 was tech day and 9/16 the first day of the event. Well...on the the 12th I was thinking I would be to sick even to make the trip to be a spectator. But as 9/15 rolled around I decided to suck it up and make the 9 to 10 hour drive. I left at 11pm Tuesday night and made it there by 9 am. The weather had pushed everything back. The rain soaked salt was off limits til Thursday. So the main road in (it's about 3 miles towards the center of the lake bed and deadends there) was packed with parked racers and fans. They tech'd the race vehicles that day and had inadvertently created a "car show" atmosphere. I met a bunch of great people and learn a lot about the race itself. I can't tell you how friendly everyone was, not one person was to busy to talk about their ride or their experiences. I only met one person who was driving a truck like mine to get into the 130 club, but his chances didn't look to good and I think he knew it. His knowledge of racing was very limited, was there to have fun and promote his website. I fell in love with the 33 Plymouth. It has a 392 Hemi, and a great trailer. lol. This is his second try at the 130 club. Unfortunately I was to sick to stay, and it may have been til Friday before anyone could take a stab at racing. I hung out with some great biker dudes from Kansas who are race fans, a man from Virginia hoping to see an Austin Healey a friend buildt, some Michigan boys who didn't finish the VW they wanted to race, and a few Mopar fans who say they'll be looking for me next year. In all, it was worth the extra cold medicine I took to get there. lol. Here's a few pictures from the trip, and I'll start posting more pictures from the build soon. 48D You can see how wet the track was. Note cones marking the direction of the course This guy wanted to put a hemi in the pontiac, but it wouldn't fit. The graffic went on before the hemi problem...lol.
  18. Retail Prices: B-108 1948 1,263.00 B-F-152 1948 1,533.00 Source: Dodge B-Series Trucks Don Bunn 48D
  19. Here's a video I did about removing the front. Might help some. 48D http://www430.pair.com/p15d24/mopar_forum/showthread.php?t=16161
  20. Wohoo! nice. 48D
  21. I don't know...which is further..Clements or Lancaster, Ca? Race across America? lol. Or maybe share the toll costs. Either way, looks like fun. 48D
  22. Thanks for cheering me up guys. If waiting another year means seeing a few more members make out to the race, that's alright by me. The more the merrier. Don, if you can shave it down to 12m 30s, your in! lol. I'm sure after I come back from the races, I'll be full of re-newed enthusiasm. It'll get done, and when it does, who knows where I'll race it first...... 48D
  23. Well.....I did what I could with the time I had and funds I had...but, I won't be racing this year at Bonneville. I've learned a lot about the sport and have met a few people who are sucessful in thier classes. More important is I haven't given up on the project, but I have been experiencing a certian amount of disappointment. I'll be at the World Of Speed as a fan, not a driver, learn a few more things about the "race community" and enjoy the fact I'll be there next year. I'll still post the progress and try and catch up on some other projects that got sidelined, lol. 48D
  24. Yep. looks like a 9 1/4. They have 12 bolts and are shaped like a stop sign. I'd go with the 8 3/4. 48D
  25. br0k3n18's is a 1952 The Red Truck is a 1950 Of course both have different grille set-ups, but I think the 52 might look better. Seems the body lines are there, where the 50 doesn't. 48D
