  1. The above replies have been very helpful. Conclusion: i will leave engine as is. Will build a one high side panels on the box, use that to ship items, and ship it East. No time to do more here. And will, ship my replacement engine TKS for the input.
  2. I have a 2nd engine to swap, but we leave for the summer in Maine May 10. I’m shipping the truck there, so with this partial solution, I won’t swap it, save time. Will fix over there. Thanks guys!
  3. So for a way to survive around home until I have time to deal with it properly, this will get me around. Thankyou.
  4. Is it possible to put a vehicle on a lift, drain the oil, drop the pan and replace the bearing? I know that a bad bearing can damage the drive shaft, so, if the shaft is ok, then. . . .
  5. These came to the states about the time the VW came. We had one when first married. Drove it from California to Nebraska 1700 miles, $17.00 for gas. Got 32 mpg on that trip.
  6. Please identify this car.

Yeah, it usually takes me a week to clean up all the dog poop that accumulates over the winter in the snowbanks, once the snow melts.  At least she (a German shepherd) doesn't do her business in the trails I keep clear.  I'd be up to go visit once you'uns get settled in and once I can get a COVID vaccine (not "old enough" right now).  They are projecting things to be settled down quite a bit around May.  Maine has done a comparatively good job around the pandemic.

I will keep you informed. May I suggest a tour of the woods in your area, unique items, small villages, etc?  I’m more interested in the woods of Maine than the coast.  Much better authentic history.

We get our second shot on the 28th.  What do you hear about the southern border reopening?

Take care, lord willing and the creek doesn’t rise will see you this summer.

Same as the northern border, commercial and essential travel only, when they will open fully is a moving target.  I'm not privy to the benchmarks that will allow fully opening any more - retire and you become a mushroom.

I'd be up for a sojourn into the willy wags and hamlets.  Main concern is time and distance.  It's like when we were living in the southwest, traveling to places is expressed in time, not miles...but it's green...with snow.

  8. German WW II soldier. Must have been quite a ride in all that mud!
  9. One ‘54 Plymouth park lens and base was for sale on eBay for $45. There was a bid option so I bid $25 which was accepted. The part arrived today complete with rubber gasket, four mounting screws, and three lens, two late design, one early and the complete mount. Now that is what I call honest business. Thank you JVP!!!
  10. My floor shifter progress. Should be driving the suburban this week. Will be telling to discover how the shifter reacts on the road.
  11. In the recent past the new fuels destroyed the pump’s gaskets. Are there new gaskets that solve this problem. My engine is a 218.
  12. When I saw what the owner did on the blue car I made my decision.
  13. Current status of my roof rack.
  14. well I took your advice!
  15. 1. Temporary, next owner may not like this or any rack, 2, property connected the drip rail will withstand the wind resistance at 65 mph?
  16. I want to put a roof rack on my suburban. How do I secure it to the drip rail or is it ok to mount through the roof. I hate to drill those holes. My age caught up with me, so my wrenching is in very slow motion. But nearly finished with the suburban.

    Covid

“The virus does not recognize prayer.” Or maybe it DOES I the form of meds. I recall that one blind man was told to wash his face in the river., FFT.
  18. Nearby, I knew they owners, a fruit packing plant was adding a fourth large cold storage room. The insulatin was a sprayed on foam, highly flammable. They had it closed off for the foam to breath when xsomehow I jolt of electricty went into it. It exploded, and sent a short back into the adjoining cold storages which sent a jolt to the packin room circuit panel which exploded, in less than 20 minutes the entire facility was ablaze, the workers literally ran for their lives. In three hours those steel buildings litteraky burned to the ground. The fire was so hot, they recovered nothing! Thus I respect hoy electrical wires!
  19. 1. I had a 10 amp fuse on the wire from the battery terminal to ign, a protection for the harness, and two I split off a wire from the power wire to the coil. Corrected those just before dinner time. So no test yet.
  20. Question. There is a single wire from the ign to the coil , IF that wire is cut and a second wire to elsewhere is added, does that diminish the total power to the coil?
  21. We got the moderna shot. Our son had covid. Been 18 days now, was in quarantine fo the required time. So we are counting our blessings.
  22. Health issues have significantly slowed my shop work, yet I try to do a couple items a day, thus it’s about ready fo license for road duty. I thought about lowering the front an inch or so, but the mechanic on utube explained the potential danger when installing so I have abandoned that. Covid has not hit Darlene and I, we took our first shots on Wednesday.
  23. Had the engine running, then sat several weeks while I was working on other things. When I went to restart it, nothing. I discovered the distributer cap was damaged, so replaced that. Then must have done something because it wouldn’t restart. Yesterday I had the coil and four very old coils tested. All tested bad. It it possible to ruin a coil, if so how?
