  1. Folks, I've heard some people talk about the benefits of the HEI, but from your observations, what are the benefits that you have seen? Thanks, FG.
  2. I just may take you up on that. The Disti is on the way. FG.
  3. Folks, I just got off the phone with Tom Langdon. I'm purchasing his Stovebolt Mopar "Mini" HEI. He 'claims' that I need to use his coil without a ballast resistor. Has anyone run this setup and do I really need to run his coil? I'm smelling some marketecture talk here. Also, if you folks did go with his HEI, what wires did you use? Did you use the 90 degree ones? Thanks, FG.
  4. Folks, Sorry I disappeared for a couple of weeks (almost two months). I had some curve balls thrown at me. Life has been extremely nuts with almost losing my job, working to keep it and now a death in the family. Sorry to Mackster, 47Heaven and others for not coming up for air during the turmoil. It isn't over yet, but I think that I'll be back around the holidays. On other happy news, the Plymouth is running in tip top shape, tires still on and haven't failed me yet. I hope you are all doing well and your cars just as well. If I don't surface before Christmas, please have a VERY HAPPY HOLIDAY and may your cars run exceedingly well. FG.
  5. Mack, I'm still interested in them and can come by tomorrow morning before a wedding I have to goto. Sorry I haven't called back or PMed or even posted here anything on the board. I almost lost my job this week and had to keep my head down and was able to keep it. Jon
  6. Take this down. I'll buy them from you. FG.
  7. Don, As I said, these tires are for all intents and purposes, free to me as they came with the wheels. So, I went for it. I don't dismiss the idea that *someday* I may goto a tubeless radial. As I don't do much freeway driving, I wasn't too worried about it. True, most of the large tire shops don't carry or know how to install inner tubes. However, the small mom and pops do. Stella (my P15) is a weekend driver and not my main source of transport. Slowly, I'll get to a place where I feel comfortable, mentally and financially to take the car further. However, everything is one step at a time process and so far, I like the direction I'm taking her. Small cosmetics like this are a step, and the next will be engine and transmission work to make her more stable all the way around (Example, replace motor mounts, rear main seal and install over drive.) With those alone, it's something I can bare financially. Four radial tires...right now, not so much. FG.
  8. Ralph, Yes, they do. FG.
  9. Greg, Others via PM have been giving me grief about the bias. I remember driving these the way I did with the Volkswagen. About driving them when wet...I don't take her out if it is raining. So there won't be a problem with that. These tires were basically free, so I am going to run them for a time. After awhile, I think I might get the the radials. But for now, I will use these. FG.
  10. Folks, My bias ply tires were worked on by a local tire shop, examined and mounted on my newly sandblasted and powder coated wheels. (I used Radial race inner tubes with the bias plys.) For the piece de resistance, the Lyon Whitewalls that I purchased have been added. And soon, the hub caps will be added for the following effect. For now, until the hub caps are polished and cleaned, the car looks like this. Success! And I don't know why anyone making such a fuss about bias plys being deadly or defective. I drove on them for 10 to 20 miles, sometimes a jut here and there as the road changed. It has just made me more aware of the road, my driving, my speed and common sense. Let the flaming begin. I am VERY happy with the outcome. The car drives better, steers better and is lighter. Frankly, I love it. FG.
  11. I'd like to know as well as this is the direction that I would like to go soon. FG.
  12. I'm very glad that you brought this up as I need to do this soon. FG.
  13. I'm in.
  14. Folks, After careful examination and having three tire shops look at the tires...the markings indicate that they were made within the last couple of years. All much ado about nothing. The bias plys are basically new just as they looked. And so therefore, they are being mounted and balanced on the newly powder coated 16" wheels I have. The Lyon Whitewalls and hub caps will be put on tomorrow as well. This will be my only second time driving on bias plys. For extra added safety, as suggested by HAMBers we are using RADIAL inner tubes on the inside of the bias plys. I'm VERY excited and will still be keeping my other oversized radials as spares. Thanks for the advice everyone. If I don't like these tires, nothing lost...as I will just goto 205/75R16 just as another wise soul on this board did. Cheers, FG. PS...I'm sure right now 47Heaven is cursing me thinking I'm going to die because I didn't go with radials. So be it. But I will be driving carefully, not far and within good common sense.
  15. I didn't end up going because it rained and I figured it would be a disgusting mess. FG.
  16. Tim, Your sarcasm amuses and entertains. Thank you. Honestly I wanted to figure out how old they were. The tire shops I've taken them to say they are just fine and look like newer tires from Mexico. My wife's safety is important...so I have to consider all facets of info. FG.
  17. Folks, I'm trying to establish the age of my tire, and can't quite understand these markings as ... well I'm used to radials. Any help would be good because I don't see a DOT rating. Thanks, FG.
  18. New Alternator bracket in place. Doing well and no more rubbing! Everything is aligned perfectly! FG.
  19. Folks, The new Holley Weber 5200 from Langdon's is in and it is a HUGE difference. So stable, electric choke works great. I'm loving it! FG.
  20. Folks, Is anyone interested in going to the Fall Fling on Saturday in Van Nuys, CA? http://www.cpwclub.com/events/content/ Info above. FG.
  21. Don, It didn't occur to me, but I wanted to make sure before I did something monumentally stupid and order something that didn't fit if I'm going to go custom. With the belly factor...I'm thinking I might go that way. And btw, the mountings on my car definitely will need to be replaced. Thanks,
  22. Folks, I really need to find out the measurements of the 46-48 bench seat. I have a guy in Orange County that is selling a 50/50 bench seat. I want to see if it would fit. It isn't Plymouth, but I'd like to see if it would fit. If anyone knows these measurements or could measure that out for me that would be wonderful. Here is the picture of the bench seat in question for sale. Thanks, FG.
  23. Bob, Could you measure yours for me? I can find one that reclines just fine, I just need to know the measurements. Thanks, FG.
