  1. Folks, I currently have a leaking rear main seal and I don't know when I'm going to get to it. Someone suggested that I pick up some Stop Leak Chemical to add to the oil. I've bought it but somewhat pensive to put it into the breather pipe. Has anyone ever used this stuff to plug up an oil leak temporarily? Would it be bad for the engine? FG.
  2. Folks, I share a vintage carport area with multiple tenants. It is becoming quite apparent that the oil spots are coming from...you guessed it...my P-15. There are tons of little spots everywhere and I think I should start cleaning them. Does anyone have a method for cleaning oil spots of cement? Thanks, FG.
  3. Bob, Just needed the content. And now that I have it, thanks everyone! FG.
  4. Does anyone have a PDF of the P15 Owners Manual? For some odd reason, my wife wants to see it. Weird. It is the red one with "The Inside Story of Your New Plymouth" FG.
  5. Marty, In fact the belt does indeed fit and it is skinny and not on a wide pulley. FG.
  6. Folks, FYI, I used a Sylvannia 1156 for the Dome light. It is single lead. Although, I fear that my switch at the door may be loose. The light did light for about five minutes and then after I shut the door and reopened...it wouldn't come back on. Two questions: 1. What position does up or down mean on the B pillar? 2. Does the switch on the B pillar also turn on the light when the passenger door is not open? 3. Is the passenger door switch/button a pain in the arse to replace? Notes: The light was bright when it was on. I took the bulb out again to see if there was a problem with the bulb. No problem, not a broken filament. Thanks, FG.
  7. Don, I don't have the part number as it is worn off. However, I am using a skinny belt. And in some ways, it looks too doggone long for my car, hence having to move the alternator to adjust. I've been driving her today and it's been wonderful. FG.
  8. Gents, My car has a single contact, and the car is 12V. It would burn out the 6V bulb immediately right? And therefore, I should get the 12V? Please advise. FG.
  9. I'm going to have to get the overdrive in her first. FG.
  10. Folks, My car's rubbing problem was solved by my good friend. He and I were going to go for a ride in her and he said "I know what that is, and I know how to fix it." 20 minutes later, fan belt tension adjusted, alternator adjusted a bit...and now NO MORE NOISE. I will however, pick myself up a spare fan belt soon. Thanks folks! FG.
  11. Folks, I double clutch now without hesitation. And I let the pedal out only a fourth from the firewall. Thanks for everything guys. FG.
  12. That is good and encouraging to know. FG.
  13. Tony, The belts 'SEEM' aligned right. But then again I'm not expert. I may carry my digital camera and take video for when the sound does occur and show you the engine. FG.
  14. Tim, It only happens when I make a tight turn. If I don't turn as tight, it is fine. And it is seems as though it is only when I turn RIGHT hard. FG.
  15. The rear motor mounts are pancake so I think that may be part of it. I'm driving her to Bob's Big Boy tonight so I shall take note of my observations and report my findings back here. FG.
  16. Don, No, it happens intermittently and no the clutch is not in. FG.
  17. Folks, My car is on the road! Who is up for meeting up? 1947Heaven? HotrodBob? Any other in Socal? I'd really like to meet other owners. Thanks, FG.
  18. No, I checked that. Definitely coming from the engine compartment and definitely from the area of the flywheel. Weird.
  19. Today I had my horn hooked up and was surprised at how LOUD just one of them gets. The other one is non operational but I have found that one is particularly good enough. Those horns are so loud it would be great to be able to get them to honk incessantly in case of break in. Everybody and their mother would know that someone is trying to steal the car. Those horns can wake up the dead! FG.
  20. Interestingly enough, when I make a tight turn that is when the rubbing noise starts to being. However if I make another tight turn, it goes away. Strange. FG.
  21. D, Great pics! I can't wait to see her in person. FG.
  22. Folks, I'm somewhat confused. Today I took the ol' girl for a drive to run some errands and a local speed shop. She has developed an occasional large whine that sounds like it is coming from the fan belt. It sounds like rubber rubbing against the wheel or something. It is intermittent, and only when I accelerate. Has anyone ever experienced anything like that? Thanks, FG.
  23. I can go and take one if you'd like. FG.
  24. Funny, I had a friend that watched Reefer Madness whilst smoking Reefer. I asked him what he thought of the film and he said... "It was insightful." Loved it. FG.
  25. You're saying don't rebuild it? You're saying to just install it, put a new governor and such in it and hope for the best? Wow. But it came out of a 50s Plymouth, not a 46-48. Doesn't it need to be modified? FG.
