  1. Dual exhaust...check. Stock carb...unfortunately check. Going to be adding Langdon's rebuilt Weber. Gear ratio and cam. Don't know because I didn't rebuild the engine. And 65 sounds insane....without an overdrive. The overdrive is sitting in my garage waiting to be rebuilt and installed in the car. It came out of a 54-56. FG.
  2. You know...I actually have no idea. I'm figuring it is completely stock due to the stock parts (axle rod shafts) that went into her in July. What would that be? FG.
  3. Folks, Some of you have cautioned me about taking my 47 on the freeway and some of you have said...what the heck just do it. I took her two exits, she did indeed get loud as heck but I kept her at 55 - 60. No steering problem, no wobbling, no control issues. Should I consider myself lucky and try for 65? That AND I did this on California's first freeway. The historic Arroyo Seco Parkway. Ironically, here is a picture of the EXACT southbound direction I was headed before the last Pasadena exit. FG.
  4. I really enjoyed that, thank you so much! FG.
  5. I'm going to have to replace mine soon too. Does one necessarily have to remove the tranny completely? My fear is that you say yes... FG.
  6. BM, I had the same problem. Had my clutch adjusted, found out the syncros were worn. Try double clutching... FG.
  7. Don, Do you find that the pusher fan does indeed cool the engine well enough in high temp situations? There isn't alot of clearance through the front grilles and I was curious about how the venting is working for you to cool the engine. Thanks, FG.
  8. Which fan did the gent finally go with and also where did he get it. I'm thinking of putting a fan where the horns are now. She gets warm, but not horribly hot. It gets hot here in Southern California so I figure better to be safe than sorry. Especially when I get the overdrive and AC in the car. FG.
  9. Found it!!!! Thanks guys! FG.
  10. So when you do double clutch, do you take the pedal all the way out or do you partially pedal out? FG.
  11. Okay, so this circuit breaker...does anyone happen to have a picture of it? Thanks, FG.
  12. Folks, Recently I had my clutch adjusted. The mechanic said that the 3rd gear is stripped a bit (and he suggested I have my gear box rebuilt) and that my syncros were worn. The adjustment did indeed help with the clutch and play in the pedal. However 3rd gear is still rough. I did notice while driving to the bank this morning that if I double clutch it just slips into gear easily. Do you folks double clutch? Or is this just something that I have to do on my car until I have my new tranny and overdrive put in? I'd appreciate any thoughts or suggestions. Thanks, FG.
  13. Folks, I've searched in vain through the MoPar Streamliner, Service Manual and searching in my car. I have a rather stupid question....where is the Fuse Box/Panel on my 47? Thanks, FG.
  14. Folks, I was recently under my car (which was a treat because I was able to walk UNDER it.) and saw that the source of my oil leak is my rear main seal. My transmission mounts are also shot to hell as well. My mechanic says that my internal rear main seal between the engine and the tranny needs to be replaced. I figure that if my friend and I are going to be down there I might as well get the whole gasket set for the car at EGGE. However, the one thing that I cannot find is...the tranny mounts. Does anyone know where I can get those? Thanks, FG.
  15. Well, considering that I've never driving it on the freeway that one from the 210 to the 118 would be a long one. Do you have a shop or something? Thanks, FG.
  16. Gents, I've never taken it over 55 and never on a freeway. I guess I'll have to try it. However, I'll also have to have the steering adjusted because it's hard to turn the steering wheel. My turn radius is also atrocious. I think that I'll have the steering box checked and adjusted. And while I'm at it, lubed of course. As far as the frame shop, I'll need one that knows these cars. Or do you think a modern frame shop would be able to handle it. Sorry for the stupid questions folks, I just have to ask. Thanks, FG.
  17. I had mine done. No problem, call Jeff Adkins over at Moose Motors in Penngrove, CA 1050 Goodwin Avenue Penngrove, CA 94951-8626 (707) 792-9985 Good prices. Thanks, Jon
  18. Where are you located? Thanks, FG.
  19. Folks, I recently realized that I have a frame problem on my 47 Plymouth that is keeping me from having the alignment done. I also need my clutch adjusted. However, I run into the problem that living in an bungalow complex doesn't give me the garage space that I need (nor do I have many tools anymore). I can't work on the car too much myself. Therefore P15-D24ers, I'm looking to see if any of you folks know: 1. A good frame shop in the Los Angeles Area. 2. A good mechanic in the Los Angeles Area that knows early Plymouths. In my case, a P15. Thanks for the help folks! FG.
  20. Folks, Sure enough, the car had to have been in an accident. The frame on the drivers side has a huge bump on the top of the frame as though the car was dropped on a boulder. It may have bottomed out, but it is only on one side of the car. Therefore, there was nothing that could be done with the alignment. I'm dreading the frame shop as I've never had anything done at a frame shop and scared at the financial repercussions. I'm hoping that it won't cost me into the thousands to get the d*mn thing fixed. The previous owner had no idea about the damage either. FG. P.S. I drove her quite a bit yesterday and got her up to 55. She wasn't squirrely or hard to steer. In fact she was a delight. I am however, afraid to take her on the freeway. What do you folks think? Would that be a problem with the alignment off?
  21. I drove her home yesterday and it was DEFINITELY a treat. However, I'm convinced due to the same problem that I spoke of, and some hard shifting into 1st or 3rd that she needs a clutch adjustment. I just don't have the tools nor the garage to do so...so you'll see a posting from me soon. Thanks, FG.
  22. I met Mando yesterday and I can verify...YES this man does run bias ply all day. FG.
  23. Where are you folks getting your tires? I've decided to get Radials, but don't want to pay a mint. Thanks, FG.
  24. Folks, What size tires do you have on your stock P15 sized wheels? I am buying some stock wheels and I was wondering what you folks all were putting on your tires. Please indicate Bias or Radial tires and whether they were white walls. I'm also searching for a good price on the tires. So if you feel you got yourself a steal on the tires let me know where you got them. Thanks, Jon
  25. Folks, Visited the car and mechanic today. He didn't get the chance to work on it over the last couple of days. I drove her today and yes I could notice that there was a need to correct the steering a couple of times. As far as the airbags, I think he is taking them into consideration. He also said that my springs are definitely older and may need to be replaced at some time. He hasn't given up and in fact was looking through the Service Manual last night. I'll update you folks if something changes. Thanks again guys, FG. P.S. On a strange OT side note, in driving her today and the last time I noticed one thing. When it felt like I was in first, while accelerating, it felt as though I wasn't fully engaged in the gear. This is just me getting used to the the car and shifting. It is strange to me that sometimes it engages in first...and often it feels like it is struggling to engage the gear. Weird.
