  1. Pete, I think it is time for a Happy Christmas with crackers and crowns. Therefore, please look at your Private Messages. There is something there that will make you rather happy. The information you are looking for is something that I looked up 5 years ago. Happy Christmas sir! FG.
  2. Upon many many other things. I find that VWs are fun, however they are seemingly fragile without proper care and maintenance. I like my Flathead because it just keeps going. Just had her open recently to replace some of the oil pan, rear main seal gaskets. Beautiful, clean and much to my surprise....since the motor was rebuilt in 2009 by the previous owner, everything was absolutely new. Doesn't get any better than that. Well, it can get a bit better. Like a 1937 Plymouth better, but I don't have money for that. FG.
  3. Funny thing is that those that don't take care of their regular maintenance on their VW engines...aka Valve Adjustment will sound like they are ready to blow at any moment...and most..well...do. <Learned on the side of the road as a 21 year old with a bug...> FG.
  4. OH, Those guys! Yeah, we are all meeting on January 17th. I thought you were talking about another car club. Thanks and Happy Holidays! FG.
  5. Thank you folks. When I was learning VWs it was not as daunting as this feels. The car itself is SO MUCH BIGGER. lol. Thank you for the words of support and guidance. I'm looking forward to meeting the rest of the Socal gang on January 17th. Happy Holidays Everyone! FG.
  6. Folks, Before venturing down the Plymouth route 5 years ago...I was a Volkswagen guy. 20 years ago, I learned by buying a bug engine separate from my car, taking it apart and putting it back together again. When it fired up and was stable, imagine my shock. Fast forward to today, I'm still a leery when getting under the hood of the P15. How did you folks learn? Did you do what I did with the VW engines and just piece one together? I wish I had a mentor like I did in my VW days, but those are hard to come by when you're on the West Coast. However, recently, I found out I wasn't alone out here in the West Coast...and that made me feel a bit better. So...how did you learn? Happy Holidays, FG.
  7. Interesting you should say that. I had noticed that yesterday when I was walking under the car. Every January/February I have my brake guy either do a safety check, or at least check the pads / cylinders and do a bleed. This year, those lines as well as the master cylinder are going to be replaced with a) new secured lines dual chamber. I think for now, I'll make sure both the rear brake lines have some secured fashion. Thank you for bringing that up Rich, I really appreciate it. FG.
  8. Awesome! I'll be there. Hopefully with my car if the new body mounts are in by then.
  9. I'd like to do that as well! I live in the same town as this gent! Don't forget the Pasadena Drive on Dec 31st. Also, the Socal Get Together on January 17th! FG.
  10. Folks, I wanted to lend my two cents to the discussion because all that I have known is dual exhaust on my car. However, I think mine is a little bit strange and I was talking with someone about having to rework it because I want my overdrive in. I wanted to show you guys as I have had some other Plymouth owners look at it, tell me it sounds "Mean" but thought it worked out very well. I bought it from the previous owner this way. God rest his soul, I wish I could ask him more about his car but he's gone to the big garage in the sky. He apparently did it himself in his garage. I like it, but to allow for the clearances for the BW OD it's gonna have to change. I present to you for contribution, my exhaust for an example. FG.
  11. Has anyone used this kit? I have disc in the front and drum in the rear. I'm using my stock MC, but would really like a dual chamber and this seems ideal. It just bolts on. If anyone has done this, I'd really like to see someone's photos. Thanks, FG.
  12. So folks, here is what I have decided. I've decided that I'm going to go over to my CSAA that has four DMV Specialists and ask them. I had a CHP officer tell me that he wouldn't touch it as it would create more trouble. But as our moderator has said, it should be a simple form to make the correction. With that being said, I also have to call the insurance folks and go through their procedure. But, I know one thing will be sure...I'm going to have to make sure in both systems they are VERY detailed in what is going on. I just don't want to give CA DMV any wiggle room to screw anything up. But, I've decided that something very well may need to be done in the event that the old girl and her motor are separated. Jon
  13. Hey Folks, I was filling out my Build Record Request form for the Chrysler Museum...and realized something. Well well before me, the California DMV screwed up. Although I am not surprised, I'm uncertain how to handle it and wanted to get your opinion. I noticed that the California DMV used the serial number on the block of the engine (the one that starts P15...) rather than the body number in the door jam. It is on the title, it's on the registration, it's on the insurance... If you were me, would you attempt to fix the problem....or just make sure the motor stays with the car? It is of course the DMV and they'd screw up changing a light bulb... What do you guys think? Would it create more trouble than it would turn out well? Thanks ahead of time and Merry Christmas! Jon
  14. Yeah, I knew the gasp would come. The car is on the rack right now and waiting for Plymouth Doctor to send out A Pillar body mounts. Hopefully he will be sending them soon and work can continue on the car. Jon
  15. Not wrong at all. Mine is on a lift right now because the body mounts are rubbish. And I'm not talking the rubber, the actual mounts. Here, I'll post a photo so that we can all gasp in disbelief...I'm hoping she will be ready by 1/17. God only knows at this point. There goes my entire budget for interior, body and paint...sigh. I feel like I'll never get there. FG.
  16. Gents, FYI, I've reached out to Don Jordan via email too to see if he would like to join us. Also, one of the other Dodge owners are organizing a drive on December 31st down Colorado Blvd and Old Town Pasadena. It starts at 3pm on December 31st at the Coco's in Arcadia. Would you folks like to participate? Some of us could gather at my house in Pasadena and then drive on out. My car is down for the body mount issue, but I'm wanting to go nonetheless. Would anyone be up for that? Thanks, FG.
  17. I don't know about you folks, but I'm liking what I see on both of those FB pages. FG.
  18. Guys, I am about to order these for my car and I wanted to get the set that is for the A pillar on the driver and passenger side. These are the ones at the front cross member. Does anyone know if there are two sets or three? Thanks, FG.
  19. I have joined both. It's great to be able to see other folk's cars and be able to bounce things off. @MarkD and I do that all the time and it is great.
  20. It is on the front crossmember. And I believe that is does bolt to the frame mounts. At least that is the way I look at it on this image. Also, I'm trying to figure out if there are really 5 sets of rubber mounts (top and bottom), as that is what I figure on the documents attached. But since I'm only doing that crossmember (the others have been replaced)...would it only be 2 sets? What do you guys think? Thanks, FG. P.S. Where did that image come from that you posted?
  21. I wish I had the know how and the skill to do so. My guy that I'm having do some of this said that it might be a bit cheaper way to go if I found some that he could just weld in. FG.
  22. I was fearful of that. I don't have access to a P15 donor body. A friend of mine sent me a link to the Plymouth Doctor. He had this on the website and I'm not quite sure if these are the same parts. What do you guys think? Thanks, FG.
  23. Folks, I picked a fine day to stop smoking. (Kidding, I stopped smoking in '04). Got my Coupe up on the lift today and saw something horrific. Three of the body mounts are full of cancer and it shocked the hell out of me that I was driving on that. So, my guy that I have working on the car says that he can fabricate pieces to replace what is essentially gone. However, he and I were both wondering if there were replacements that could be bought and just welded in. Does anyone have any ideas on if this is possible? If so, does someone sell aftermarket parts? Thanks, FG.
