  1. Thanks so much, mine look like that as well. I'm taking the wheels to a friend of mine to get the old tires taken off. From there, the wheels will goto a sand blaster and will be powder coated. After that, it's radials for me and then the white walls and hub caps! FG.
  2. I've seen that but when I look at the back of those LWW, I just logically can't see how they would stay on... FG.
  3. BTW, thanks Mack. The car is running great. I've ordered a replacement belt just in case I need it in the future. FG.
  4. Folks, I have recently scored some 16" Lyon Whitewalls that don't necessarily say that they are for Plymouths. But they say they are for Chryslers 37-41. I have '39 16" Plymouth wheels now. They look like they should fit...however I don't quite know how the heck they stay secured. Does anyone have a picture of the back of their Lyon WWs? I'd like to see that. Oh...and yes I have my hubcaps as well. And all the clips are on the wheels. SCORE! FG.
  5. Folks, Im travelling for business so I apologize for not responding sooner. Our alternators are the same but your bracket is better than mine. The belt isn't the same length as the fat belt. It is home so when I get back, I can measure it for you. FG
  6. That is in my town! I should go and check it out! FG.
  7. Thanks Mack, proof positive. And Napa has the belt. FG.
  8. Folks, Somewhat scary and something I didn't expect. Out of curiosity, I decided to just touch the unattached battery cable to the car. I have a cutoff knob that I usually put in to connect the battery. I touched the cables and fastened them w/o the knob. From there I had power and I started up the car. It ran just fine and I figured it would cut out when I disconnected the battery cable. When the cable was disconnected...the car kept on running. I had figured that it would have just died. I figure it was running off of the alternator. Yet more newbie stuff I didn't know. And yes, I have an alternator... FG.
  9. Thanks. FG.
  10. Mack, I have an extra switch somewhere if you want it. BTW, that looks great! Let me know when you're driving her over. FG.
  11. I'm sure the landlord would love that. FG.
  12. Wait, what brand? FG.
  13. We found that the coil was fine. I installed that one back in the car. FG.
  14. Out of curiosity, going over the stock 4 - 7 PSI would be bad? I've had some pumps in the past on other cars run 10-15 PSI. Would that be terrible for P15s? I'm just wondering. FG.
  15. Folks, I'm back up and running. Mackster and I were able to meet, he had an extra cap and points. Replaced the cap and points...AND WHAMMO! Like I said...I don't like points...has anyone had luck with the solid state stuff? Thanks folks! Jon
  16. Below is a picture of my old coil. In looking at it now that it is out of it's spot in this picture it says "No External Resistor Required". Also in the picture below is a silver box with all of the wires going to it. Is that my Voltage Regulator? If so, that is the piece that sparked when I accidentally nudged it with my ratchet. The new coil does not say anything like the old one did... Any thoughts gents? Jon
  17. Folks, After working outside under the stars with a lamp, the new coil is in. Originally it started up just fine, and then...it didn't. Accidentally, I touched my ratchet to this piece I have no idea what it does and it sparked. Now the car cranks but doesn't start. The lights go on so I know that something is alright. I will check on whether this was a resistor coil or not. Frankly I don't know. And, I've gone and checked if there was fuel in the tank. I do believe that there is, as I can smell gas down the tube. However, for good measure, in the morning I will go ahead and put more gas in the car just in case. But what kills me is that it started with the new coil...but didn't die. I shut it off and then had that little faux pas. I'm going to go and take pictures, and put gas in the car. It's getting late so I think I'll continue troubleshooting in the morning. Oh...and for a good laugh...as I'm a short guy...I kinda almost fell into the engine compartment after I lost my footing on my step stool. I thought that might entertain. Cheers, Jon
  18. True, and I apologize again profusely to all of you. I let my frustration get the better of me. FG.
  19. Something occured to me after I had gotten past being an arsehole to Don. Again, many apologies. The car sat outside, and had been sitting since Monday when we had 113 degree heat. The car is stark flat black. Would the extreme heat have killed the coil? FG.
  20. Don, I thoroughly apologize and take back my remarks. I had just come back from sitting on the side of the road, hot, sticky and frustrated and I took it out on you. I'm very sorry sir. I'm really a decent human being when I'm not frustrated. Please do accept my apology, it was wrong of me to say that. FG.
  21. Is the coil just a 12v that I can get at Napa or OReilly?
  22. Okay so we're home. 1. Never had the points adjusted. 2. Coil was hot. 3. She did start and then eventually died. 4. @Young Ed, I have no idea what a ballast resistor is. And yes, she is 12V. FG.
  23. I let her sit for awhile. Still waiting for the Auto Club. I tried starting her up, she ran for awhile and then died....it didn't feel like lack of fuel. Now she wojt start again. I'm thinking now hot coil. She died just after 160 degrees. FG
  24. Could be the doggie points....o
  25. I'm thinking rotor.....
