  1. I've decided that I'm going to keep the airbags in for a month of two and see what I think of them. I was dead set to remove them and then I realized I've driven on them already. I may be in for a different ride if I remove them now. The tie rod is going to be straightened. And I talked to him and he isn't going to use heat. He's got this HUGE industrial sized machine that he said that it would straighten it out. I don't quite know how it works but I'm happy about the fact he can do it. Also, my biggest problem now is that the front brakes are missing key parts. I'm ordering those parts tomorrow and hopefully soon the front and the rear will be complete. And after all this time, the doggone stop light switch was there. We found it today all gunked up looking like it had been through the beach at Omaha. Barely recognizable. After he's worked on the final pieces for both the fronts and the rears she'll be drivable. I cannot blinking wait. As of next week, she will have only been in the brake/wheel shop for three weeks. We're making progress, but each time we do he finds pieces completely missing. Thank god this gent knows his stuff because I sure don't do brakes. FG.
  2. Great, I know my dash lights work. I tried the switch...DURING THE DAY!!! I'll try it when I get the chance in the evening once she's back from the brake shop. Thanks guys, FG.
  3. Does anyone know know exactly what this switch is next to my steering column? I tried it today and it does absolutely nothing... FG.
  4. Toe in and toe out? What does that mean?
  5. Folks, As an engineer sometimes I come up with some really crazy ideas. I wanted to run one of those crazy ideas by you. I'm assuming that we all have a cold air intake vent that you open with your handle under the dash. With those Thermadors or Classic-Aires, couldn't one of those be modified to take the air from the top of that vent, route the air through one of those swamp coolers and into the interior of the car? As the ice melts, a hose could be employed to use as a drip somewhere outside of the car. I've drawn it up on a piece of paper here...and it's a crazy idea but do you guys think that would work? The way I see it, it keeps you from having a HUGE protruding swamp cooler outside your window. Just my .02 cents. FG.
  6. Folks, Does anyone know if there is a book on performance modifications that can be done to a FHD6 engine? Specifically a P15 would be nice but not required. Thanks, FG.
  7. Folks, All good ideas, however, my brake/suspension guy has a torch and a bender machine in his shop. He's going to bend it back into submission, use a cheater guide and then put the part back on the car. From that point he's going to do an alignment. MUHAHAHAHAHA my car will be on the road soon! Thanks for the input guys, you put the VW guys to shame on community input. Cheers, FG.
  8. Yeah, well the air bags were put in by the damn hot rodder that put it in right before I bought it from him. I'm going to take them out. Please go easy on me, I'm new and trying to get everything in order. FG.
  9. It should be completely straight right? FG.
  10. Folks, This is a picture of my front passenger side suspension. Am I wrong, or does this look wrong to me? There should *not* be a bend there should there? Thanks, FG.
  11. No doubt, but I want the ol' girl rolling and performing just as she should. Therefore, I have found the other part and have ordered a used one. Hopefully this will be the end of my rear end madness. Onto the next which will be the front axle, brakes, parking brake and brake lights. Once that is done....whamo. Ready to drive. FG.
  12. 1947 Plym SD Club Coupe, Rear Suspension, Axle Shaft. I think I've found that it is 32 1/4". I have a problem where one side is shorter than the other and I'm under the supposition that it shouldn't be. BTW, the mopar part is 1118136. FG.
  13. Hence one of many reasons that I would not want to drive a vintage car in the desert. Also, yet one of the many reasons I wouldn't be in a desert in the first place. Wait...I live in LA...strike that. FG.
  14. That explains why he was alittle bit off... lol. FG.
  15. That knob is great! Great add sir! FG.
  16. Does anyone know the answer to this question? Thanks, FG.
  17. Folks, I met a gent with one of these on his '36 Plymouth. He found a NoS Thermador but instead of regular ice...he puts in Dry Ice. He said it cools the car down better and the ice lasts longer. He finds that it cools down the car and doesn't get the inside of the car humid. When my car is on the road, being that this is SoCal I will need one. When I was in the VW community, we had a vendor that some of us bought from. It was ClassicAire. http://www.classicaire.com/RamAir.htm The dry ice method makes sense to me, but I wonder if this would cool down the car sufficiently for my coupe. I just won't know until I try it. Just my two cents. FG.
  18. The file is 101MB, so depending on your bandwidth, it could take awhile. And of course I'm not harboring a virus on my machine to spread to others. I'm glad I could help. It feels good to know that I can contribute in a very small way as a newbie. FG.
  19. Folks, It isn't my company. I have a friend that uses it to send large files occasionally. I decided to try it this time. FG.
  20. Folks, I have done a search and cannot find the length of a Rear Axle Shaft. I would really like to know how long it is. A resource on the web says that it is 32 1/4". However, I'd like to verify that. Thanks, FG.
  21. Folks, I found it and now I have all of it consolidated into one PDF. I had it printed today and it was worth the 49 bucks at Kinkos to have it printed and bound. Here is the PDF copy. Enjoy. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=HFNYE3CD Regards, FG.
  22. Folks, I found it and now I have all of it consolidated into one PDF. I had it printed today and it was worth the 49 bucks at Kinkos to have it printed and bound. Here is the PDF copy. Enjoy. Link removed due to dead site. Regards, FG.
  23. Folks, I figured that I would give back to the community and do one little service for all of you that have helped me since i got here. The online catalog that he provided was in multiple pages and not consolidated. I have consolidated the file into one large PDF that can be downloaded only for 7 days starting from today. Enjoy. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=HFNYE3CD FG.
  24. Yeah I found it, but I was hoping someone also had the MoPAR Streamliner PDFed as well. I REALLY like the detail from that book. FG.
  25. Folks, If a PDF of this was ever made, would there be someone that would be willing to share that PDF? Thanks, FG.
