  1. my 41' 1.5t was kinda free, just help the farmer every now and then!
  2. when it does that, BEAT THE CRAP OUT OF IT WITH A SOFT MALLET! or something to try to jar it loose.
  3. looks kinda like mine! and maybe mine does have a 5 speed...
  4. forget the link?
  5. issue is, this truck already runs & drives, so any sludge would already be pumped through. i could drop the pan, though. does anybody know a good place to get a pan gasket? the local auto parts stores tend to suck with old parts, it took em' 3 months for my valve grind kit!
  6. i am not sure why, but i am now taking off body panels instead of when i was doing engine work for some stupid reason, probably because i didnt have air tools or other neat stuff at my disposal at that time. anyways, when i was replacing a valve, i did some cleaning for sludge in the tappet areas, using a modified vacuum cleaner, but it left a lot behind. is there any good way to clean it all out without dismantling the engine?
  7. ouch. i paid $75 for one in need of some fluid and a gasket w/ new brakes & 75000 miles. kinda wish i coulda gotten one with a posi.
  8. my 3.55 came from a 96' and it only has 1 cylinder per wheel w/drum brakes. the best way to do this is the way i started all this, just go take measurements until you find what you want. just out of curiousity, was i the 1st to do this? mine was done last spring/summer, and it seems like everybody else followed. how many others have done this?
  9. adding a blower of any type to a flathead
  10. that sounds familiar, but if it is patch-able with some remains i have if barry leaves a little, then i am interested.
  11. i could cut them out if you can specify the sizes you would like, the different area cuts, and what you want them cut with (if you care)
  12. the jeep cherokee is nearly a bolt-on-bolt swap, except for the spring perches. the u-joint is an exact swap, and the brakes work fine. i finished mine over the winter, and it truly is worth it. the only difference is about .75" narrower on each side, nobody will ever notice. if you need any help on this, dont be afraid to ask.
  13. not to intrude, merle, but how bad are the short boards? i am almost wondering if those would go well on my pickup if barry does not want them, as i will be mounting things to the side of the bed there.
  14. i still have the remains of mine, just there is not enough there to make anything from them. will need another set, so if you want them for donors, send me a PM and i can get pics if you would like.
  15. no, the way this one is set, it was supposed to have an external points frequency to voltage converter, which i did not get. i did on the other hand map out the voltage to RPM ratio and wiring diagram of the tach, and built a circuit to run it, so it actually does work, and so far it works properly with bench testing. i will hopefully move on to true truck testing today.
  16. well, its supposed to be flush-mounted in something, so im debating whether or not to put it in the dash and where?
  17. did you ever check out the exhaust like i suggested? that would congest the engine enough to make it act that way. maybe even the heat riser is the issue!
  18. i picked up this neat old electric p-51 mustang tachometer, figured it would go well in my truck if i can find somewhere to put it. any ideas? i have the late-model B4B cab. heres a pic of the tach, its about 3.5" diameter.
  19. i dont really need lights yet, im just workin on it with my free time. i can run on the 1 light for awhile. BTW-those trailer lights are average $20 around here, just about anywhere you look.
  20. i have 1 tail light, most likely not correct but mainly rust-free for $4. anybody have a matching light in decent shape that they would be willing to give up? i will pay for the light and shipping.
  21. what about the fuel pump? BTW, what happens if it just sits and idles? will it die? if you let it warm up does the problem go away? what is your temp gauge doing at the time, how about battery? when it does run, does it progressively lose power until it dies? that may indicate a a CLOGGED EXHAUST SYSTEM, normally caused by mice, tennis balls with mysteriously tightened bolts through them, and POTATOES
  22. close enough?
  23. try racing with a dirtbike with neutral between each gear. thats really crappy when trying to jump something and you grab a whole fist full of neutral!
  24. is it normal not to be able to go into 1st gear when moving? my truck just grinds gears if i try that, but its fine in 2nd and 3rd, and downshifting between them,
