  1. Having driven a 40 Furd with drum brakes and then my 49 Dodge, I will say the Mopar brakes are FAR superior. Even though they are finikey (to say the least). If, and it's a big if, I decide to replace my brakes with disc, I would sell or give the parts to someone who could use them. I have waaaay too much stuff in my basement as it is. I also don't post here a lot but I am on the site almost every day. One thing that makes it so great here is there are the purists and the modifieds. For the most part we all intermingle. As both my cars are "modified" (49 only slightly) I enjoy the different points of view. I will have to say there is A LOT more tolerance at the streetrod shows for stockers than there is at the concorse for modifieds. The concorse even has a modified class now but the noses are still held up high. Maybe it's a left coast thing only. I took 1 of my cars on the Americruise a few years back from Pamona to Lincoln Ne, I took the streetrod..... Not the stocker. I do enjoy hearing "You drove that here with the Flathead?" every time I drive the Dodge. Each vehicle has it's nitch.
  2. It was built in 1957, probably 26 feet. NO LUXURY ABOUT IT. Rotten to the core. Name was Mudsucker. I water skiied behind it once but had to take it to 4000 RPM to get me up. Made a lot of strange noises. Reliable as hell. Towed many newer boats back to Oyster Pt. with that.
  3. Man, that car would look awesome with a Viper V-10. Already modded.......... and it's not a Chevy. (belly button motors)
  4. Had one in a boat I fished out of in the SF Bay when I was growing up. EXACTLY like that, blue pan, mag, backwards and Velvet Drive box. Ran every time but only went 15 kts.
  5. NO WAY someone spent 50G on that car for that result. To answer your question, sure I would, But it would stay all Chrysler and look a lot better than that.
  6. I had a Puch (aka puke) that I got after it sat for years. Same issue....... After cleaning the carb it would not run with choke off. I still had the air filter off for various reasons. I found that without the air filter, it would run too lean with the choke off. FWIW.....
  7. I think that's the Veterans Cemetary in San Bruno......... Maybe??? Adam
  8. I'd have to live in it, She says I have to build her a "Scooby Doo" dune buggy before I can have any more cars.
  9. YUCK!! That car needs a lot of work
  10. That thing is WAYYYYY COOL, I want one but the wife would kick me out
  11. I had to fab everything. No one made floors for a Mopar then, I did it 10 years ago. Been sitting for 5 years while I built a 35 Ford Slant. A couple of kids, house construction.......... You know the drill. Now it is almost time to get going again. Been tinkering with a 49 Dodge recently.
  12. How was the trunk? Mine was Swiss Cheese. That's when it got pro streeted. BTW nice job on the floors.
  13. I had my body on 2 creepers. Going to build a dolly high up like that when it comes back off. Here's the HEMI that's going in it.
  14. Oh yeah, floors and rockers are sure fun......... Going to get back on mine soon too. Yours is looking great and I like your body dolly.
  15. I'm 36, first car was a 39 Plym bizzy. Now I have a P15 and D29. D29 is a driver and the P15 is.......... well...... comming along slowly.
  16. Got my 47 coupe for free. Buddy of mine owned it and wanted to hot rod it, so I subframed it for him and then he found out how far over his head he was. The lower 6 inches of the body was gone all the way around as were the floors. I even heard someone say it was "beyond repair." After that he was going to haul the whole thing off to the wrecker out of frustration. Instead it got hauled to my garage. Here are some picts....... He had started cutting the floors. Last one is the finished floors and firewall. Had to come back 4" for the hemi.
  17. Vargas does a GREAT job, used him for years as his shop is right across the street from where I work. Was it the kid or the dad?? Both do really good work. I actually thought they went under, glad to see them still going.
  18. At least it's an easier cylinder to get to. Any oil on the boot?
  19. Tom, You don't have the extended warranty on injectors Find out which cylinder it is and do a compression check on that cylinder and the one next to it. DO NOT CLEAR THE CODE.... Also, how many miles are on it??? If all looks good, swap coil with another cylinder and see if the missfire moves. Did the coils come with new boots? If not replace all the boots. Also check and make sure no oil is leaking from the valve cover seals into the spark plug holes, they should be completly dry. FYI the computer will shut the injector down for that cylinder when it detects a missfire. If the missfire does NOT move when you move the coil its 1) harness problem 2) PCM driver or 3) low compression caused by a bad exhaust valve. let me know what you come up with. BTW if you unplug a coil to see if the cylinder drops, the PCM will turn that injector off to save your CATS, so you can't use that test on these vehicles. Works great on our flatheads though.
  20. Is it a 32 valve 5.4L? They have problems with exhaust valve seat going bad. BIG $$$$$$$! Some have warranty extensions on injectors leaking, much more common. Send me the VIN and I will run it and see. I've seen these injectors take out a whole engine. Oh, by the way, you didn't put Bosch or split fire plugs in it when you changed the coils did you? Adam
  21. Wow........ Back to the HAMB. A lot of GREAT info here but if it's not stock, not very friendly
  22. My point was if I was going to rewire a car as the origional poster stated he was going to do, it would be FOOLISH not to convert it and not worry about it. IMHO. There is a reason vehicles are 12v now. OH and generators just plain SUCK
  23. My Dodge was rewired by the previous owner. He did a pretty good job, but for the life of me I cant understand why someone would rewire a car and not convert it. I know people say 6v is ok but cars are 12v now for a reason. Running 6v makes everything electrical work twice as hard, therefore last half as long. 1/2 the voltage 2x the amps. I know I don't post to this site much but I've been doing this a loooong time so I know what I'm talking about. Moral of the story, if you gunna rear wire it DUMP THE GENERATOR AND CONVERT IT. Save yourself the headache. Adam P.S. Yes my grounds and terminals are clean but always chasing something electrical

But this weekend the weather is good and the car will be at Dream Machines in Half Moon Bay, CA Dream Machines This is a awesome event, everything from air planes to scooters, to old washing machines... ---- Looking foward to meeting some of you guys. I'll be there too with my 49 Dodge.
